War for Wonderland

Chapter 6:

Elizaveta smiled. Everything was going as planned. She had the new girl within her castle, Rodechich was still hers, and she wasn’t suspected of anything at all.

Perfect.

However, her royal solitude in the throne room was interrupted by a very unusual pair that wasn’t always welcome in the castle. How they managed to get past the guards was beyond her, but if they were here, they had something to say.

Only she wasn’t in the mood to hear it. “Leave my presence, both of you.” She summoned some guards with a wave of her hand. The last thing she needed was more “divine advice” from the famous Blue Caterpillar Prophet Lars Anderson. Normally she wouldn’t care that much if he was here, but he just had to have his partner, escort and bodyguard Vladimir Barbu, the Gryphon Warrior, with him. Wonderful. She preferred the prophet over the annoying gryphon.

“Aw, but Queenie, you know we only come when it’s important.” The brunette took of his hat and ostentatiously bowed with a smile, showing his face. “And this is very important.”

The queen frowned and twirled her scepter in her hand. “Go on.”

The blue-garbed prophet stepped forward. His deep blue-green robes swished as he walked right up to the throne. “You must stop this war.”

Elizaveta snickered. Stop the war? Why should she? She was gaining more land and slaughtering more of those pathetic White Family members the longer this civil war was dragged out. She could only benefit from this.

“Wonderland is being destroyed because of this.” The prophet went on, retying his blue and white scarf and relighting his pipe. “The longer you carry out this war, the faster this world gets destroyed.”

“Pathetic prophet.” The Red Queen strode up to him, plucking the wooden pipe out of his mouth and throwing it to the ground. “Wonderland destroyed? Never. There isn’t a world anywhere that is stronger than this one. Even the gods couldn’t try and touch us.” She turned back and sat down in her ornate obsidian and ruby throne. “Now, can you give me anything about this girl named ‘Sisia’? She’s not of this world, yes?”

The spikey-haired prophet nodded, picking up his pipe and dusting it off.

“And what is her role?”

“Alice.”

Alice? That was a role unheard of. In the past, people from another world took the role of something simple, like the messenger rabbit or even just a minor soldier. Usually just some trivial role she could use to her advantage. Alice, however, was new to the young queen.

“And what does that mean?” The queen asked, hand on her chin. Alice was the name of the previous empress. What in heaven’s name did that have to do with this girl’s role?

“I cannot say yet.”

“Cannot or will not?”

“Cannot.”

“Listen, you-”

“Sorry, Queenie~” Before she could order another execution, the red-eyed Gryphon cut her off. “But it seems our time together is sadly up.”

“Vladimir, your input is mere drivel in this matter. It does not concern you.”

“No, but it concerns the Caterpillar. And that’s where I come in; or are you forgetting in your old age?”

“Vlad. Leave before I cut off your head-”

“Like you did to Duke Zwingli’s sister or are you going to beat him and send him to the Jabberwok like you did the Duke?”

Wonderful. Another unwelcome face. “Arthur Kirkland.” Elizaveta said dryly. “A pleasure as usual.”

A sly smile grew on the cat’s face and he shooed out the other two guests and guards. “Now, now, Queen. I have news.”

“What. News.” At this point, she was up to her neck in bad news and really didn’t need even more.

“Vash Zwingli is still alive.” Her green eyes narrowed. Vash? Alive? Impossible. “Looks like your personal murderer isn’t on your side anymore.”

“You lie.” Ivan never let her down. He was always there for her, especially since she couldn’t trust Roderich with anything.

“Nope~. I saw him with M.A. They went to White Castle together. He is very much alive, Elizaveta.

And is out for blood.”
