Chapter One: BETRAYAL
[Setting: A large encampment of tents. We see a girl (Kiyo) running through the pathways in between the tents. We can't see her face]
Kiyo: Ryuko? Ryuko? Ryuko! Where are you?
[DESC - Kiyo: She is wearing a green tank top and khaki cargo pants with brown sandals. She has long, undone black hair and deep red eyes. Average build, fairly short]
[Kiyo stops running and cups her hands around her mouth to yell]
Kiyo: RYUKO!
[Ryuko comes out of the tent to her right, looking slightly flustered]
Ryuko: Kiyo! Quiet! The High Priest is preforming an initiation ceremony! Be lucky he didn't hear you! You, of all people, know how he gets when he's mad.
[DESC - Ryuko: He is wearing a desert camo-print t-shirt and khaki cargo pants also. He is barefooted. He has bright blue eyes and blonde hair falling a little in his face]
[Kiyo puts her hands on her hips]
Kiyo: Yeah? Well, this is actually important.
Ryuko: Kiyo!
Kiyo: [ignoring] I found this really old map inside this really old tomb. You've got to check it out!
[She grabs his hand and runs off with a cloud of dust behind her]
[Setting: Middle of the desert, seemingly in the middle of nowhere]
Ryuko: We're going to be in so much trouble. You do realize that, right?
[A large doorway greets them as they are walking]
[DESC - Doorway: Made of sandstone with granite doors. There are intricate, forigen runes all over the tomb]
Kiyo: Oh, well. Come on! [She drags Ryuko to the doors.] I was exploring yesterday and I found this. [She motions to the tomb]
[Ryuko walks up the the door and starts reading out loud]
Ryuko: Huh, it says something here... "Six gems, each a pilliar of this world. A power, gifted by the gods and bestowed to each of the human leaders. They abused the power and the gods placed a curse on the people. Six children, every 60th generation would be cursed to forever hold another immmortal within them."
Kiyo: I honestly don't see how that can be bad.
Ryuko: I'm not done. It goes on saying that at a certain age, the essence will take over and the child's soul will be lost forever.
Kiyo: [paniking] HOLY CRAP! SO AS FAR AS WE KNOW, WE HAVE A PARASITIC DEMON INSIDE US, WAITING TO TAKE OVER AND WRECK HAVOC?!?!?!?!?
Ryuko: [anime sweat drop] Kiyo, relax. I don't think that you have demon-
Kiyo: [cutting Ryuko off and still paniking] I COULD! I'M NOT RELATED BY BLOOD AND - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Ryuko: Calm down, Kiyo. Now, you were saying about a map?
Kiyo: [distracted] Oh, yeah!
[She pulls out a weathered parchment with similar runes]
Kiyo: Long story short, I went into that tomb, found the map devoid of traps, took it and found you. I can't understand a word of it. How do you?
Ryuko: [annoyed slightly] [sighs] You remember NOTHING from the lessons, do you? We learned this. You never listen to the High Priest, do you?
Kiyo: Not really.
Ryuko: [sighs again] [notices something] Hey, look at this.
[He points to a group of runes in the top left corner of the map, thinking Kiyo can read it]
Kiyo: Can't read it.
Ryuko: Right. Anyways, it says that if you find the crystals, you will be able to ask the gods to pardon the generations.
Kiyo: Then all we have to do is find them!
Ryuko: It's not that simple, Kiyo-
[SFX: a woman's high-pitched scream]
Kiyo: [sniffing air] Smoke.
Kiyo and Ryuko: The village!
[We see an overhead view of the burning village for a few seconds, then we cut to see Ryuko and Kiyo running toward the flames]
Kiyo: Ryuko! You go find everyone and make sure they're safe! I'll stop the flames!
Ryuko: How do you expect to stop the flames in the middle of a desert?!
Kiyo: Just trust me!
[She runs ahead, the camera following her]
Kiyo: [thinking] Gods, how am I supposed to stop a fire way out here?! I'd need - [speaking] MAGIC!
[She stops running and concentrates]
Kiyo: Rain should work...
[A thunder cloud appears slowly]
[SFX: Thunder rolling]
[Switch to see Ryuko escorting some villagers out of a burning tent. He looks to the sky, sees the thunder cloud and smiles in disbelif. Rain starts falling, and puts out the fires. Once the fires are all put out, Ryuko rushes to find Kiyo]
Ryuko: Kiyo!
[When he finds her, Kiyo looks ready to collaspe from exaustion]
Kiyo: [panting] Whoa, that was way harder than I thought...
Ryuko: [smiling slightly] You did a great job. [He holds Kiyo up for support]
[SFX: Loud roar as if from a beast of great size]
Kiyo: [annoyed] Aw, what now?
[A large four-legged beast, covered head to toe in flames appears]
Kiyo: Oh, crap.
[SFX: another roar]
[Kiyo and Ryuko look at each other and nod in silent agreement]
Kiyo: [summons a broadsword into her hands as she stands alone] So, what is that thing?
Ryuko: I have no idea. [summons a raiper]
Kiyo: [angrily] YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO KNOW EVERYTHING!
Ryuko: [annoyed, and suppressing rage] That doesn't matter right now. Let's just defeat that thing and THEN do we work on what I know and don't know, alright?
Kiyo: [grins evilly] I can handle that, no problem.
[The start lunging toward the camera, but dramaticly freeze]
[After the battle, of which Kiyo and Ryuko won]
Kiyo: [panting] Okay, so what now?
Ryuko: [only looks slightly tired] Well, we would have to start rebuilding...
[SFX: A chuckle, filled with malice]
Kiyo: Another!
???: Another? I don't think so. I don't feel like fighting at this moment.
Ryuko: [almost bussiness-like] Are you the one who sent the fire beast to destroy our home?
???: And if I am? Oh, already? Well, it would seem that I must take my leave. Take care not to hurt yourself, little one.
Kiyo: [knowing that he's talking to her] I AM NOT LITTLE!
[There is no response from the mysterious voice]
[Kiyo growls in fury]
Ryuko: I wonder who that was.
Kiyo: [Practicly lost it, evilly] I'm gonna KILL them...
Ryuko: That's not going to solve anything. Let's head back to the village and make sure that no one was injured.
Kiyo: [back to normal and nods] Okay.
[We see them running into the village. Ashes are in the air and most tents are simply smoking piles of ash]
Kiyo: I hope everyone's alright.
[Ryuko only nods. Up ahead, we see a woman is kneeling down and crying. Kiyo sees her first and runs faster]
Kiyo: Are you alright?
Woman: [murmering] You did this...
Kiyo: [can't hear her] What?
Woman: [accusingly yelling] YOU DID THIS! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! IF YOU HADN'T ARRIVED, THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED! I KNEW WE SHOULDN'T HAVE LET HER ANYWHERE NEAR OUR HOME! THAT GIRL ONLY BRINGS DESPAIR AND TROUBLE!
[Kiyo looks shocked at first but then she gets serious. We can't see her eyes]
Kiyo: ...
Ryuko: Kiyo, are you alright?
[She doesn't answer. She briskly walks past Ryuko, to her tent. We quickly skip to see Kiyo packing her bag inside a partially burned tent. The tent is simple, with only a few rugs to cover the sand, a trunk and a simple bed. Ryuko enters about a half a second after we arrive]
Ryuko: Kiyo, are you here? [he spots her packing] What are you planning on doing?
Kiyo: Leaving. I've put up with the crap this village has given me for far too long.
Ryuko: What do you plan on doing once you leave?
Kiyo: What else? If I'm travelling, I might as well try and find those crystals.
Ryuko: So you're going to try and follow a map of which you can't read to try and save the generations? That last part sounded awfully unselfish of you.
Kiyo: Who said anything about saving the generations? I'm going to need money, so I should sell them.
Ryuko: [calmly] If those crystals get in the wrong hands-
Kiyo: [cutting Ryuko off] Blah, blah, blah. I know, I know. It's the end of the world. Cliches galore. And I'm not going to sell them immediatly. Only as a last resort.
[Kiyo finished packing and starts to leave]
Ryuko: You can't leave.
Kiyo: Don't try and stop me.
Ryuko: Who said anything about stopping you? I didn't finish. You can't leave yet.
Kiyo: And why not?
Ryuko: [smiling] Because I'm going with you. After all, who knows what kind of trouble you'll get yourself into if I let you leave on your own?
Kiyo: [smiles back] Thanks, Ryuko. For everything.

And that's a wrap for the first chapter! So far (because this is a work in progress) I We are only at the seventh chapter and we do not know how many there will be. We are still debating on the final love intrest (yeah, we just HAD to include your typical love triangle. What's a good story without one?) and that in turn affects the ending.
