Most likely because ignorant people aren't able to recognise the difference between English sounds and foreign language sounds. Neither R nor L are the same as the trilled sound in Kirara's name, and the only sound we have that closely approximates it is the double T in 'butter', which is how my first semester Spanish instructor taught those who couldn't trill to trill.

I always heard bad things about the Hellsing anime, and this just confirms it, haha.
The subtitle fun reminds me of when a friend brought over a bootleg DVD of Zero no Tsukaima. Botched Japanese --> Chinese --> English subs are a wonderful thing, indeed.

That's why I don't do life reports on my blog anymore. Unless I think it's interesting enough. :P
And I remember hearing how some Hellsing fans were pretty stubborn about calling him "Arucard" over "Alucard". Even though it's clear that the latter is the right way to spell it, considering what it is backwards.
I'm glad I read the books first, because it really made me realize how much is missing from the anime. The OVA isn't bad, but it's still not the manga either.

Hellsing dubbed is always better.

@Shinmaru:
I am not entirely certain I even want to know why your friend went through the effort of bootlegging The Familiar of Zero in the first place.

Whoops, seems I can't use brackets here to indicate plural possibility. Accidentally struck through four-fifths of the post.
