i havent seen the movie, but when i saw the previews, i did find myself having similar opinions and thoughts that you posted. I really have no urge to see or buy the movie though, even though i do have a thing for Sigourney Weaver lol. ill just stick with my ALIENS/Terminator films, they dont make movies like they use to right, which is sad. That's probably why i havent gone to the movie theatres in a few years. I enjoyed reading your thoughts and your take on the movie because it answered some questions about the movie that i had been wondering about. It seems as though we had the same take on it all along :) i sure hope to chat sometime soon :)
As you've probably read on OB, I enjoyed Avatar, although I have very similar criticisms (although mine are a lot broader and less specific than yours).
I have to say though, I think they portrayed Grace Augustine pretty consistently throughout the film. I don't get the sense that her personality changed at all. She was simply angry at the beginning and for pretty obvious reasons. In fact, her reactions closer to the end when dealing with the impending military attack on the Hometree were pretty consistant with her general attitude and seriousness.
Anyway, it's one of those things I guess...the logical side of me could tear the movie apart pretty easily. But sometimes I try not to get logic get in the way too much, because then I just miss out on enjoying simple, visceral fun.

I respect your opinions, if that warrants anything. ._.
I didn't like the movie for its plot/storyline, just the concept of the new world and stuff... And the avatar thing is kinda cool too. But hey, to each his own right? ._.
Hollywood is currently going through a phase of what I like to call "Special Effects Orgies", which basically means they make movies with very ... very token plots just so they can show off how cool their new toys are and wow everyone that way.
There will be some absolute gems in the pile somewhere, naturally. Boondock Saints (sheer language aside) absolutely floored me. I *want* to think Sherlock Holmes will do the same, since they cast Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law beside each other, but we'll see.
I like this post .... oh man, Facebook is starting to take over my consciousness!
Ehum. In all seriousness though, your post will really help me write down my thoughts on the movie in a post of my own. Which is also why I'll refrain from commenting here since it'd eat up your comment box ^_^;
One thing is guaranteed: you won't hear me say "y you no liek thiz movee, luls?".
And also can we stop with these instantly blossoming relationships, please?
I SECOND THAT REQUEST PLZ.
After everything I've heard about the movie ("But the graphics are sooooooo cool!"), I'm not willing to pay the seven bucks and two hours of my life it would cost to see it. .-.

Yay, another funny image with the same simplistic logic. When will the hilarity end?
