I'd say I'm the same as Beth; If there's something I'm excited about and really want to share, I'd be waiting to talk. Most of the time, however, I'm a listener. I'm not real talkative unless I'm with close friends, and I feel that listening is something that I'm actually good at.
Sometimes people think I'm not interested when they're talking to me because I don't say anything in between, but seriously I'm just being polite about it and listening to what they have to say before responding.
But I guess I do a little of both depending on the situation.
I probably do both. If I'm really excited about something I find myself eager to tell the other person about it. Probably not a good thing since it's too easy for me to tune out what they're really saying.
If I don't have something I'm hyped up over, I'm better at listening to what's actually being said. ^^
I listen. People wouldn't talk to you if they didn't want your opinion/think you're interesting, so the least you can do is give them respect and listen to what they have to say.

I would be generous enough to let the other people talk first, and then answer them reasonably if possible. But then when it's my turn to talk about what's going on in my life, a lot of times the other person's response is disappointing like, "Oh okay." after I said so much & was expecting a better reply. After that, I just lose interest & wanna stop talking to that person. Then that other person returns to talking about them & I get really snappy & pissed. xD Everything they say, I'll just give them a similar response they give me. ~chuckles~ I have a short temper... eh.
But I also to have the tendency to butt in but I apologize when I do.

I listen more than I talk*, unless it's something that I'm passionate about but even then I'm eager to hear what the other persons thoughts are ^_^;
*Though if you compare me with what I was like 10 years ago I'd come off as a complete blabber box >.>;

I wait to talk, honestly. I have a good listening ear, but at the same time I'm a talkative person and put in my opinion on a situation.

I listen. I generally don't speak much unless I have something useful to say or if I'm just BSing with friends.

I guess that would depend on the conversation, really. Listening and talking are two different skills that are best served at the right times.

@James:
You know, I've wanted to ask you for a while now if your current avatar is your vision for the post-teen years of Spikey-Kun.

In conversation, do you listen, or wait to talk?
