I don't miss the fun of dealing with bandwidth issues when I was attending school. Considering how much Internet access has advanced since then, it's too bad to hear that schools still have the same issue.
Hmmm, that's a shame to hear about your friend. I wish the best for him in his current situation. No words can convey just how trying that can be.
I have no comment in regards to different bible versions. If Crystia has not told you already, I pay little attention to such matters. It's something I should probably rectify, if only to help me better understand how those who are of a paticular faith see things.
Ah yes, nicknames, that also reminds me of something Crystia said. You're the one that started the nickname Indi correct?
And yes, Welch's Fruit Snacks are very tasty indeed.
Yeah, there you go, block youtube instead of dealing with the real issue, stupid students hogging the bandwidth. Though how they'd fix that I have no idea. The more I hear, the more I'm glad I'll be living at home while going to college.
I'm glad you finally got to see your friend. ^_^ I just hope he gets better as much as possible. Or as much as that kind of thing will allow.
Hmmm... religious stuff. *runs away* Okay, I kid. But my knowledge of the bible is pretty much non-existent. Mormon's don't really use it after all.
I still remember highschool religion class with its many varied assortment of bibles provided for us to study from. I can't remember which edition it was [there were so so many .__.], but one of them had so most bizarre translation/"update" in it; "Jesus said to his friends, "Hey you guys!""
All I could think about for the rest of religion was the kid's movie, The Goonies XD.
It's really great that your friend seems to be the same person. I saw my best freind from 2nd grade to 4th grade (she moved after that) when I was in 9th grade or so and she was completely different. It was really shocking and I still prefer to imagine her the way she was back then. I hope things turn out OK for him, at least as good as possible.
Also, though most translations have the basic truths that are in the Bible, some parts have been intentionally altered so it's a good idea to compare some of those versions for multiple reasons. And I can't imagine trying to genuinely study and get something meaningful out of a paraphrased version of the Bible. It was all put in there for a reason, thus it's all important.
I've become mighty fond of a certain fruit snack here in Japan, but I have no clue as to how "heathy" it is or not seeing as how I can not read the lable. heh.
The gripe I have with the Message is that it is basically a paraphrase of a translation, and not directly connected to the original manuscripts. At best it's good for a reference, when you're reading along and come across a passage that might be a bit dense, but it's by no means a substitute for the real thing.
Now, I recently became aware of a Message Study version, which would appear to be a reference/guide for the Message; and this concept boggles my mind, for how can you study a paraphrased interpretation of a translation?
Other than standardized testing, that's probably the single dumbest educational decision I've ever heard of, especially considering how much use an entire network of buildings with college students living in them can get out of Youtube. You still have Veoh at least, right?
Good to hear about your friend. I can't really say much else since I don't really know him, but sounds like things are looking up health-wise, at least.
As for the bible thing, I have a certain fondness for the Message. It's just kind of fun to see how modern times re-imagines some of the stories (recently I was told that in one of the wedding parables, some potential guests beat and killed the messengers "because they had nothing better to do.")

Very good news to hear about your friend. ^_^
That's the funny thing, actually. You expect that when someone goes through something like that that they'll be totally different afterwards. Far from it, it seems, which is good. I know from experience with my grandma, who had a very debilitating stroke when I was 7, that she's still a person inside and just needs to receive that same respect you would give anyone else (and no pity).
I myself prefer NIV, it's just easier to understand. It's been "tailored" to our language's current style.

I see your campus net continues to be made of fail.
I'm glad to hear that you finally got to see your friend. ^_^
Now when it comes to the bit about the bible... That's something I don't really pay attention to. >_>
