Sounds like you all put a lot of work into the music for your service. I am not religous so I don't think about it, however, I do agree that little changes alter the sound and experiance of the music.

We never have any music like that at church. It's kind of the same deal, simply organ or piano music with singing. I've always thought it would be nice to do something more but no one seems to be interested.

Baptists get all the fun soooooongs. The songs I usually hear are beautiful with the organs, pianos and, when it's Christmas or Easter and the church springs for someone to help out, a violin or flute. I think last year at Christmas we had maybe a half-dozen pieces... can't remember... they were on the balcony and I wasn't. Still, the songs are usually much, much less peppy or modern. Music directors who try to filter in hipper songs get shunned.[/Roman_Catholic]

Well, see, I don't really say things like this about this choir because they're good enough to actually do that kind of music well. And we do everything at regular tempo anyway, with live ensemble music instead of cd tracks.
But still. If you're gonna do Israel Houghton, you gotta feel it, and you gotta give it some punch.

I have that same complaint for my church's musical team. It's just too white. lol
I wish they would pick up the tempo on some songs I know can go faster, or even play songs that are a bit more fun. It's always the same stuff each week, I swear. :/
