George did that to me when I went home back around Christmas. He kept hogging my lap and interfering with stuff if I wasn’t petting him. XD Anyway, say hi to Shadow for me. ^_^
That saying…. So wrong really. ^^ It’s downright rude in my opinion. o_O I like your reasoning for how they came up with it though. Hehe. I should have known the English Department was up to no good!
Oh gosh… People need to be more careful! Especially if they have kids in the car. >_< I really hate seeing people with kids driving like idiots. I want to bonk them on the head and tell them to stop endangering their kids!
I guess I’m lucky. The place I’m staying at, my bed is pretty comfy. ^^ I do like it better at home with George curled up at the end of the bed though. There’s just something comforting about having him around. Though that thought just makes me miss mah kitteh.
Well I hope you’re sister gets better soon. That sounds really unpleasant. ^^ As for Harry Potter, I was never into that series. It was fun, what little I read, but it just never caught my attention well enough for me to finish it.
It is really weird. But it's the politically correct thing to do now.
And I don't really buy the "different strokes" card in this case. Were we talking of here versus the Middle East or the Orient, maybe. Culture is vastly different, so such things would have different perspectives thrown on them. But us Western people are gradually succumbing to the idea that any negatively-construed differences between the White populace and a minority group is automatically racism and so must be eliminated. It is, to me, the exact reverse of the social stigma two centuries ago, when the White man was viewed (by himself) as the top of the stratum; now we have to make ourselves the bottom just so no one else is left with it by proxy.
Two centuries, and one of preaching the evils of this kind of mindset, and we still can't get it through our heads that there isn't a stratum.
...though as someone who read the whole series, I seemed to have an issue with Rowling's insistence on heavy usage of minorities within the stories.
This comes from Britain's current political/social stigma. At present, actually being pro-British is bad form; in order to be a good British citizen, one must almost lay down in a puddle for a person to walk across if said person looks different than you.
Either that or Hogwarts is the only school of magic in the world. And I find that hard to believe.
Could be a good children's book. Then again, I dunno.
I really like the Harry Potter series as a good set of children's books. Children, as we all know, cannot tell the difference between a Mary Sue and a well-thought-out-and-developed character. Also, it's half-way decent Mary Sue, so it's not like sparkle-vamp-ville certain other series tend to play up. >_> It's readable and I really like how it ended. Some people don't like the series at all and I find that to be fine... it's whatever you like.
...though as someone who read the whole series, I seemed to have an issue with Rowling's insistence on heavy usage of minorities within the stories. I'm not racist or anything, but this is the U.K. we're talking about. Yeah there are minorities, but not like America the Free-for-All Melting Pot. Even if Hogwarts was the only wizarding academy in the nation, there wouldn't be that large of a possibility that you get a set of Hindi sisters, some Irish, a few black kids and some Oriental kids thrown in there... all within a year or two in age and without any racism based on nationality (let alone major cultural differences). Even when the Beauxbottoms (is that how you spell it?) and Durmstrangs came over, the nationality barrier was not there, only the school one and the whole Muggle-born hang-up. It made no sense to someone who sees that petty racism shit all the time; it seemed a bit sterile. Maybe that's part of the Mary Sue thing, maybe it's just part of Rowling's "I-am-female-and-therefore-a-minority-hear-me-roar" thing... she tends to do that.

oO That saying is kind of dumb. But that’s what you’re getting at I think. That mother should be more careful when she drives.
So your dorm has bad mattresses. oO That’s no fun. I hate being tired. It makes concentrating hard. Awwww, I hope your sister feels better soon.
I like Harry Potter, but it’s not my favorite series. I kind of like Holmes better. He’s fun!

That sounds really weird to me, being as I'm more of a merit-and-personality person. I guess different places deal with stuff differently.

How long before someone has "Jesus" endorsing their product? "Jesus Christ for Allstate. You're in good hands." *headdesk*
As for HP, I think I read the first 30ish pages of book one. That's as far as I got. *grimace*
Give Shadow an extra snuggle for me. ^-^
