Not sure if you're aware of it or not, but I remember sometime ago that they had made two American movies -very- loosely related to the anime. I remember watching them when I was a kid, and it wasn't 'til a few years ago I found out it was originally a anime.
They're kinda cheesy, not really connected to the anime, but if your curious enough, check them out.

^^ I like the song, and yea, it's pretty great considering when it was made
