A while back, I said I was going to write a comparison of some different alcohol marker brands for you guys. So, here it is!

Prismacolor $$ (mid price range) ~ $2 - 4 / marker
My first set of alcohol markers and primary go-to. They're a good quality marker for a better price point than some of the other big names. They lay down a bit drier than the other markers in this list, so it takes a lot of quick layering to blend them well. The downside to them is that they are prone to dry out comparatively quickly, and they are NOT refillable. They come in a wide variety of colors with combos of brush tip/fine-nib and chisel tip/fine-nib.

Copic $$$ (high price range) ~ $4+ / marker
The way the ink lays down with these markers can almost make them look like watercolor. A word of caution: I've had some markers that actually drip ink. They're an excellent quality marker, but YOU WILL PAY THE PRICE for them. The price varies by the series of marker (Ciao, Sketch, etc.). However, Copic Sketch markers are refillable (though I have yet to find out where/how to purchase refills). They come in a wide variety of colors with brush tip/chisel nib combo.

Ohuhu $$ (mid price range) ~ $2.50 / marker
A more affordable Copic competitor/alternative. They have a wide selection of colors, and many of the series are refillable. The color lay-down is not quite as smooth as Copics, but they blend very nicely. They come in combos of brush tip/fine-nib, chisel tip/fine nib and brush tip/chisel tip.

Peter Pauper Press $ (entry price range) ~ $2 / marker
This brand makes a 6-marker skin-tone set that has a very good quality to it for a low price. The color lays down and blends nicely -- on par even with Copic (though it's not as wet). But these are NOT refillable. They come in a brush tip/fine nib combo. This brand is not as widely available as the other brands and doesn't seem to have as much of a color selection.
