Sorry for the late comment! ^^; But, I'm very interested to answer this question, aha. I chose to start and watch anime because every since I was little, I loved cartoons and cute stuff. To me, anime was very appealing and adorable so I decided to watch it. They had amazing story lines which I certainly enjoyed.
Some of them were a bit too violent (Bleach xD) so I decided to watch when I got a bit older. Another reason why I started to watch it is because there would also be mangas of the anime so I could read it and not always watch it. (Because I prefer reading than watching.) So there it is, that's my answer.
