Okay thanks! That gives us just under a month... I better get to work!
I'm sure your entry will turn out awesome :D
Thankyou! Your backgrounds inspire me so much! I can't wait to try different things such as the checker board :D
Oh and for ome reason, my backroom comments aren't working right now... When I open them, they just pop up like the old way (listed down the page without giving me a choice to add comments)... Makes me wonder if Adam is updating our backroom or something (I think he owes us some updates from the last slam)! But maybe its just my computer xP
Oh yeah! This canvas is giant! I guess its not as big as some of them, but its the biggest one I've seen! Oh and I'm sorry, I forgot to post the pictures of it last night Dx I'll take some more and then post them as soon as I can :D
I think the dealine is in March, I still have to see what date exact, but I can't wait to finish, I'm also kind of having trouble with the requirments, but I'm wigging it out! XD
lol okay you can try! It would be interestiung to see you do a similar background! XD
Wow sounds like a huge painting I'm thinking Wall size! XD
Ooo yeah, I better double check the deadline too! I don't want to rush the colouring too much by last minute.
Woah, your entry is going to be so awesome! I can't wait to see it as well :D I was having a lot of trouble with a few of the things that we have to include, but its working out okay now^^
Ah I'm sure you'll get creative again! I really like your checker board backgrounds! I want to try doing some like yours :)
Maybe I can post two pictures of the painting today! I really want to show you^^ And I'll also list the measurements of the canvas... its really huge!! My mom hasn't painted in a long time, but I think she's doing really well :D
I have to look at that challenge to check the deadline, my drawing is giving me a hassle, and I kind of wen with a humunoid type of person. I can't wait to see yours then, it sounds interesting!
lol I feel like I'm lacking creativy though!
Yay! I'll look forward to the WIP of the painting! it sounds laike a huge project and I'm sure that it will be beautiful once it's done! I'll look forward to that!!!
Lol same here^^
I'm working on my entry for that challenge too, but I decided on not going with a human character. I've got it inked, but now I'm struggling with how to colour it xP It was only supposed to be in pencil at first.
Oh I see! I know that you'll so really good backgrounds on all your artworks... You inspire me so much especially with your creativity!
Yes, I'll definitely post the horse painting progress in the club! I don't think my mom or sister will mind. But I'm just remembering now that I forgot to take a picture of it last night >_< Its coming along pretty fast so I better start taking more pictures! I didn't get the outline but I got one picture where my mom had done the background. It looks really good so far! I'll post the pics soon, maybe even before they finish it totally :D
I only cheat on digital since I'm not serious about it.
Not really but I'm still working on that! XD I have a lot of drawings that have a difficult background that I'm not sure how to work on yet. I'm talking about a lot of drawings right now, not just one! XD but that would be nice! XD
I think that there is a game similar to that online game.
Oh I do remeber you mentioning something about that horse painting! I forgot all about it! You have some the process?!!! That sounds exciting!!! You should post it in the club so everyone can see! That is if your mom and sister don't mind! I would also like to see it!!! ^_^
Lol I used to do everything the hard way since I didn't want to cheat... but now I'm taking short-cuts xD Using a digital background is a good cheat I think, but I'd feel bad about it at first xP
yeah! Are you talking about the challenge you told me about where you have to draw an original character but include certain traits??
Haha that sounds like a fun game! It sorta sounds like a baord game I used to play. I can't play too many computer games either or else my laptop works way too slow. And I don't have unlimited internet usage O_O Yeah, thats one reason I don't really like digital... The computer screen would start giving my a headache >_<
LOL My Kurita drawing is so simple xP I'm glad you think it looks ok though. ^_^
Ah my mom and my other sister (not KK) are painting a horse picture on a GIANT canvas. I might have told you about it earlier... My sister originally wanted me to paint it, but then she changed her mind :( maybe she thought I was going to be a control freak with it xD jk. Lol she wanted a certain style when I wanted to add colour. Anyway, I'm keeping track of progress with the camera so maybe I can post it on the Artist Cubby! :D
lol it is easier but cheating! I'm such a cheater! It's okay though, traditional backgrounds just mean you'll have to do some more brainstorming! I hae some ideas right now, but I don't know how I'll pull them off yet, but I look forward to that challenge!
I've played just one drawing game online, it was called Draw My Thing, you get a word and draw it and others have to gues what it is! XD It was addicting, but I couldn't play it much since it slowed down my computer to much.
I think that you need to work big, I think I'd get a headache looking at a small screen, I saw your drawing,I think it came out good though!
I'm horrible with paint! XD I get that everywhere even if I'm being careful! I envy my classmates, they never made a mess! XD
Ahaha!! Thats what I would do though... Sometimes I'm not creative enough on backgrounds and adding digital backgrounds looks so much easier! xD
Yeah, I think those video game systems might have art programs too.. The gameboy I have is a 3DS. I used to be a really big gamer, but I mostly bought the 3DS for wifi and so I could play a couple of my favourite games. The art game download is pretty fun but the screen is so small T^T I feel like my creativity is getting cramped sometime!
LOOOL! I know how that feels like! I find Copic ink really doesn't come off easily though T_T Paint is also messy and I get it everywhere if I'm not careful xD
lol the only thing is that I run out of ideas when I'm doing tradiotnal backgrounds, so digital is kind of cheating! XD
Oh that sounds interesting! I seen some games like that for the wii, or x box? I'm not sure since I'm not into those things much, but that sounds cool! I'll look forward to those!
lol I do that with my markers and in the end my hand are all colorful and I always ask myself: "Huh? how did my hands get that dirty?!!!" even if I use separate paper! XD
Oh I see! Thats a good way to do it! I think your traditional backgrounds are really super anyways^^
I'm not serious about digital art either, even though i love looking at it! I actually downloaded this game onto my gameboy and its an Art game! Its super cool! The tools work like real pencils and brushes! I'll probably post some images that I created on the game, but hopefully they are not bad quality!
Oh thankyou! I'd love to get some tips from you! I'll be sure to ask you if I have questions on backgrounds^^
Good idea! I usually pump the pen right on my finger XD Lol I just get so concentrated on my art that I don't even think xD And afterwards, my finger is all white haha!
I only add digital backgrounds if the drawing is digital or I'm being to lazy to actually draw the background. I don't really take digital art to seriously right now! XD
You can do that if you want and I could give you some tips if you want!
I almost ruined a drawing like that, but I always use a separte paper to do that!
Yeah I agree! I see that you sometimes add a digital background :D Thats a smart idea! I should start doing that so then I won't use my copics so much... Its harder to do backgrounds with markers xP You do them really well though^^ I should try different things too!
Ack thats what happened to me, except that the tip is already big so it doesn't blob as much.
Backgrounds are fun, but having to think of what to do is hard. Good like with making more backgrounds for your art. I some ideas for furture draing, but I think they are going to be complicated to do with the materials I have right now, but I'm experimenting.
I press down on that sharpie, but if I do that to much I end up getting huge blobs of white ink, so I don't mess with it to much.
Lol I have that problem now too... Now that I'm always feeling like my art is unfinished without a background, I'm having trouble deciding what types of backgrounds to do xD I love your final artwork though! It turned out really perfect!
Thanks! I shall continue doing more backgrounds then!
Yeah... I wonder about that. Maybe the ink starts to dry. Do you have to 'pump' the tip of your white pen? I don't know how to explain this, but with my white pen I have to push down on the tip to get it flowing. It's on a spring or something. The other day it wasn't working as well, so I pumped it a lot so now the ink is coming out too much xD
The backgorund was fun, but it took some time to actually figure out what I wanted to do.
lol I think your art looks great with backgrounds, plus backgrounds are fun to do sometimes. I sometimes have a really hard time leaving something with no background, so that's why everything has a backgound. I can't stand white backgounds! XD
Really I thought that maybe the wider tip would work better. The sharpie pen I have is a small tip, but when you start to ink, the white does not show up and even if I do more layers it still doesn't show up.
I think it might depend on how old the marker is?
I'm glad that you at least got these pictures^^ I think that background is super! I'd never have thought to do a background like that, with the layers of colour and the white sharpie pen! Nice work :) I think you've given me a 'background addiction' cuz now even when I don't plan to do a background, I end up doing one! xD
Ah thats interesting! When I bought my white sharpie, I was disappointed to open it at home and find out that I had chosen the wrong one (I was originally looking at the small tip). The tip isn't that big, but seems to let the ink flow faster though. I'm happy with it, except I find that it doesn't colour as well for me too. I have to do more then one layer and then sometimes it starts turning yellow as it dries xP
I wish I could of taken some more pictures! XD hank you you so much! XD
lol now the secret to the background was revealed! JK I thik that the background was the hardest to do from the whole thing, since I tried to make it look digital! XD
I have a white sharpie pen, but it's so useless. I doesn't color well and I haven't even used it that much. It was a miricle that it even worked while I was working on this. Most of the time I end up using a whiteout pen.
I think I'm going to get one of those white sharpies that have the wider tip, they might work better.
WOW! This is so cool, Toya!! I love seeing the background come together as well... I had no idea how you made that awesome background, and now I can see your process. SO COOL!!! I never would have guessed how you did that! (as we talked about before, it looks almost digital!) I really love this, its super to see 'behind the scenes'! The finished artwork is stunning! I love it a lot, I'm really glad you finished it too!!! Great work with the sharpie pen too... I use the same type of white pen too, except I bought the wrong kind... it has a really thick tip. The colours and work you put into this is fantastic my friend! Well done <3
