Hey Poochy! I hope you've recovered from your art block!!! Thankyou for posting this here, I'm really glad you did ^_^
I just had an art block for a month.. I was drawing and stuff but nothing looked good or else I overworked an artwork or made mistakes that I couldn't fix Dx I didn't want to stop drawing because I wanted to practice more but I think it does help to take a break especially if you're tired. If its a break that put you in an artblock, then search for inspiration in songs and your favourite artists. Just be careful about looking into too many good artworks. Instead of helping you, they could hurt you if you start thinking people are better then you >3< I find music works the best. And go with the flow! Draw when and what you want! And try new things as well ^_^
To anyone with an artblock, I hope this advice helps ^_^
Thanks Poochy!!
That is a good way, but you shouldn't get depressed! People are so harsh on themselves with their work. And you should try and draw again ^^ It's fun and relaxing.
Yeah, breaks from drawings are nice, and then I always come back with different styles from looking at other's people's art work * unintentionally I kind of take little parts of people's style xD;) Ack, I know x-x; I try not to stay up too late and wake up at 10 each moring.
What I would do I would try get myself inspired, either by listening to music while drawing (Although that is distracting but helps)or take a break from it and watch a show/ movie. Its best to Draw when you patient and art blocks only gets you frustrated.

I always end up in an art block but mainly when my hand starts to hurt or when I can't draw something well the involves perspective or when I feel like other artist do a better job then me. XD
I also get my best ideas at night. To get out of an art block I sometimes visit art blogs on Tumblr or go look at the galleries of my favorite artist or just talking to people here on the otaku works too. They'll say something interesting or funny and I sometimes doodle it. XD
But it's sometimes better to try and stay from drawing cause eventually you can get good idea like that to.
LightFykki, I agree with you. I've finally snapped out of an artist's block, but I currently have a musician's block. Sometimes you can't force yourself to pursue something if your passion isn't there. But when your passion is there, take advantage of it.
What got my inspiration flowing again is reading manga. Sometimes you find a character you can't get enough of, and you start studying their features and sketching them. I'm actually doing a meme on DeviantART just to have practice drawing my favorite characters.
Another thing I like to do if I get an idea but can't draw it right away (or don't feel like drawing right away) is to write it down. Just a few words to jog your memory will do. That way, if you want to draw but can't think of anything off the top of your head, you can go back to your list and draw something from there.
Then there's doodling. When I doodle, I don't care if it's good. Usually some of my craziest drawings come out of just random doodles. A few examples of random doodles that I made are a boneless pig, a dinosaur with frizzy hair, a newscaster being hit by a pineapple, and a stick person in an oversized bikini. As I said, it doesn't have to be brilliant. It's just something to get out of your system.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!
When I watched Kiki's delivery service there an artist (can't remember her name) said that when you loose a will for something that you are good at, like painting for her example, just leave that, go and do some other things to clear your mind and eventually you will bring yourself back to it.
Sometimes I just keep drawing until I feel satisfied, but then when I look at my failures, I get depressed.
Now, I have just stopped drawing...For now, at least...Maybe.
I try to have time away from drawing too~ Hang out with friends or just work on some other crafts~ xD Eventually I'll miss drawing and go back to it once again~ ^^'
I'm a night owl too, but I'm trying not to lately~ I have such bad sleeping habits~! @_@

Well, I started drawing again and it seems that I've got my touch back...I feel like I did well, but drawing isn't really my 'famous' talent.
