I'm Engaged, Blog, Law School, Art
Wow, once again I've managed to disappear from this website for a long time. Do people even still care about me? haha
But I digress.
I just wanted to let my few subscribers know that I'm alive and I haven't forgotten about this website, or the comic I wanted to so badly to get done. I was able to get several pages draw out, but I was just never able to clean it up and color it. Now more than ever I just do not have time for art. I doodle sometimes, but law school has sucked up all of my time. What little free time I have I try to spend it with my fiancé. Oh yeah, I'm engaged too, bee-tee-dubs.
My significant other and I are planning to get married next year in September. It's going to be a small courthouse wedding, and we're only planning to invite 14 people. Weddings are expensive and we want to save money for a really amazing honeymoon in Scotland. We might have an actual wedding ceremony after I've started my career as an attorney and have money to spend. But we're really happy and excited and we get giggly when I mention that we're going to be husband and wife next year.
Now, back to art. I'm going to try to get back into drawing and art over the summer, even though I have many things to accomplish. I have to start learning Japanese and get A++ certified so that I can get a job with Sony through my fellowship program, since they can only place people with Sony who are fluent in Japanese or have a technical background. And I'm planning to take at least one summer school class. I can't make any promises on art, but I miss it so much and I have ArtRage Studio now and it's so nice to use. I'm hoping to one day be able to complete my comic, as well.
I've also got a blog up and running. It's mostly for my cosplay adventures, but I'm also going to post video game related things as well. It's a little sparse right now, but I have ideas for new posts. My Blog. If anyone is interested in taking a peek into my life, you can look to my blog, or even add me on Facebook! My Facebook. So send me a friend request or check out my blog from time to time, if you'd like.
So yeah, that's about it. I want to try to be just a little more active again on here because this website is like my art roots/old art stomping grounds. I just love it here so much. I miss everyone here and I hope I can contribute more and interact with you guys more.
~*~
P.S.
I'm also planning on creating a new world so I can give little/simple legal advice or tips. I want to share what I'm learning in law school, so others can benefit as well, for free. I believe it's super important to know the law, despite what others might say. I can't give full blown advice or tell anyone what they should do because I am not a licensed attorney yet, but I can point you guys in the right direction if you have any questions.
New Year! New projects! New Challenges!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Oh man, it's been a while since my last update, and since I've drawn anything. I got so bogged down with like everything that's ever existed in the history of the universe during my last semester of college. But I've graduated and, while still waiting for my diploma, it's time to move on to new things.
I'm currently waiting on my LSAT score (it comes in on Friday 1/04) and I'm just slightly nervous. Depending on my score, I might have to take it again in February, which will be my last shot to be able to attend law school this fall.
Because of all the hectic things that went on during my last semester, I wasn't able to get started on my comic like I wanted to. However, I do have plans to launch it within the coming months. The only set back I'm having is a lack of a Wacom tablet at the moment and that my laptop I was using broke. It had all of my pages for my comic and I have no way of getting them back right now. I really don't want to start over again because I put so much work into what I had finished. But my boyfriend is a tech person and he's going to take a look at it for me and try to fix it.
On top of getting back into art and web comics, I'm also seriously getting into cosplay. I really want to be apart of the D20GirlsProject but I need to build up my cosplay portfolio first. My boyfriend is also a creative person and comes from a family of photographers, so he's agreed to help me start my cosplaying adventure. I'm hoping to have my first shoot sometime between mid February and early March. We're both really excited about that, as he's been looking for a way to get back into art, graphic design, etc. Oh, and we're also thinking about starting a couple's gaming/let's play channel on YouTube over the summer. I suggested the idea to him like 2 months ago and he was really feelin' it.
I'm also going to be floating around for the next 7 months or so, depending on if I can go to law school this year. And since I've graduated, I've been feeling like I'm wasting my life because there's not much to do at home it seems. Idleness is definitely not my thing. Luckily I have a job and I work 4 days a week and the pay is pretty decent, so I'm kind of happy to have that. My boyfriend and I are also planning on getting our first place probably in July at the latest. I'm not sure where we'll end up, but I know we'll be happy as long as we have each other.
I suppose I should end this post now. I just want to let everyone know that definitely, for sure, I swear, that new stuff will be coming within the next few months. I also want to see about changing my name on here to Saskies, which is my "official stage name" if I can call it that hahaha If not, I might look into starting a new profile. And I want to thank everyone that's stuck around all this time, even though I've been an unreliable artist. Thank you so so much!!
Here's to a fabulous new year for everyone. Let's all do our best!!
Summer, Money, Art
It's finally summer!!! I'm so happy this semester is donezoooo! Just one more semester to go and then I graduate! I've got two summer classes starting in July, Public Relations and Forensics Workshop for my Communication minor. I have no idea what forensics workshop means or what that class will be about O_o
I can't wait for my birthday coming up in June; I'll be turning 21! And for my birthday, I'm going to Catalina Island for 3 days. And I'm gonna get so fuckin' shitwrecked awwwww yeeeeeeeeaaaaahh!!
So after getting all my stuff packed up from my apartment at school, I grabbed my old useless textbooks and decided to sell them back to the book store. I wasn't expecting much, but I didn't want to take them home and try to store them somewhere. Surprisingly, I got $115.25 for the books I took back. Of course I spent over a grand this year on books, but every little bit of money I can get helps. I have a credit card to pay off lol So I recommend selling your books back, you might end up like I did and score a decent chunk of money
Now, in terms of art, I'll be working on the first page of my new comic tonight. I might post a draft of it, so keep an eye out!
Alright guys, for those of you in school and coming up to finals, good luck and do your best! As always, have a nice day!
And now to leave you with some songs I am loving for summer
Art Updates, Law School, Life...
College
So it's been a while since I've updated my world/blog here on theOtaku. I haven't really had much time for art in a very long time; like...years. College required so much of my time and attention. If I had majored in some type of art, I probably would have drawn lots. But, I'm in the science of politics, definitely not as fun as art, yet the law has my soul (In a good way). My hard work in college is paying off; I get to graduate early. My older sister is graduating this year as well, and she is not scared at all, unlike me. I'm absolutely frightened. After this, there really is no more playing around. NONE. I have my plan set out for me, everything is looking fine so far, but I'm scared if something goes wrong. Then what? What if I don't get a good score on my LSAT? What if I can't get into law school? I'm nervous. I know plans hardly ever go the way they're supposed to, and my parents are confident that if, by some wild chance, I don't get to become a lawyer, I'll still have a good life and make decent money. I'm glad I have so much support. My honey's got my back too. I should probably update that picture up at the top of my world, seeing as how he quit smoking on Christmas. I'm so proud of him
Life
Speaking of my love, we've been together for almost 2 years now. We have a pretty solid relationship. We've already decided that this is going to be long term, like for the rest of our lives, because there's no way we can find anyone else that'll click the way we do. So, I'm going to pick up a second job this summer and we're going to work hard to get our own place next summer. We're going to move near whatever law school I decide to go to. I had to ask him so many times if he was okay with that because I didn't want to be selfish, but he says I'm going to end up being the breadwinner of our family, so I get a bit more say lol He's such a sweetie.
Law School
Back to law school stuff. People always ask me why I want to be a lawyer, and I didn't have a reason for them until recently. I have two reasons, and neither of them are money. Money is just an extra thing. I want to pick up where my dad left off. My dad was offered a full ride to a law school, but he turned it down to join the air force. Another reason is that...I WANT TO GO TO FREAKIN' E3!!! Recently E3 has been closed to the public, and only people who have some business in video games/electronics can go. (Plus, the tickets are ridiculously expensive!) Which leads into what type of lawyer I want to be. I have a connection with someone who works at EA and he mentioned that companies like EA need lawyers too. For the longest time I didn't know what type of lawyer I wanted to be, and I don't know why I didn't figure out the EA lawyer thing sooner! Not that I want to work for EA specifically, just whichever similar company will have me. So, I want to be in the boardroom as opposed to the courtroom. I want to specialize in intellectual property rights, with emphasis in interactive entertainment/video games. I LOVE video games so much, I grew up on them. This would be the perfect career! And I would get to go to E3!
Art
And now onto my final topic, art updates. I don't want to completely give up art. I love it. It's another way for me to write my stories if I want more than just words on paper. And I love writing stories. Another passion of mine. I would like to write at least one best seller in my life. I'm currently working on a new project, and I am really liking it so far. And since I'm going to have many, many months of free time before law school begins next year, I'll be able to work on this new project. I'm definitely excited. And I want to thank everyone that's kept up with me ALLLLLLL these years. It means something even if something I draw just gets one favorite. At least one person on the internet liked it haha And I hope you all will like my new upcoming project
Peace Out
Have an amazing day, everyone! Not just today, or tomorrow, but every day of your life! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
