It's a really good site. Right now it looks like they had to take some of their videos down, but I can always rely on them for the entire movie subbed in pretty good quality. And you don't have to look all over the place to find the different parts. And yeah, dependable streaming is so much easier than downloading. XP
I don't really watch American horror except for a few select movies, so I've never seen House of Wax. They rip of Asian movies 90% of the time anyways. I think the last 2 or 3 big horror movies that were released here were also remakes of Asian films, these not including The Ring or The Grudge.
I actually don't remember a whole lot about the Ring 2, so it must not have stood out to me much. I'll probably have to watch (or try to) watch it again before I review it. Same with a couple others.
Great, I'm happy I could recommend you some ^^ I keep annoying my best friend to watch Guinea Pig with me because I know she'll get scared and go "Ewww!" at just about every moment XD
I'll have to check out that site too. I use torrents for downloads but it's hell when people don't seed and your download gets stuck at 90-something % >.< Happened to me before and I thought I'd go crazy!
I don't know why, but I just can't stand violence towards animals, even if it's in movies. I mean, watching people get killed is no big deal since it's all been done before - some deaths are unbelievably cheesy and sometimes I find myself rooting for the villain (like in House Of Wax, I was cheering for Vincent to kill Paris Hilton's character :D)
As for The Ring 2, I didn't even bother to finish it. The first one was great and kept me on the edge of my seat, but I got halfway towards the second one and turned it off because it was just the kid and mom mindlessly running around and panicking (and Samara looked like she had no powers and like just a simple plot device).
Just writing about a couple of these made me go back and watch parts of them over again because <333333.
I'll definitely take a look into the Men Behind the Sun one if I can find it. I feel like at this point I've seen just about everything. And Guinea Pig sounds like Suicide Dolls (which is filmed like a home movie, and looks SO REAL that I still have my doubts that it's staged sometimes).
The ending was a big part of the reason I gave Shutter that rating. (I hate happy endings xD). But seriously, compared to the other Thai films I've seen, it's golden. But I think it still stands well on its own as a suspense/mystery ghost story.
Korean films are my far my favorite, Japanese in second.
lawllll I don't mind long posts in the least. I love discussing movies.
:3
[edit] I actually just found both Men Behind and Guinea Pig on my beloved asian-horror-movies.com, so yayyyy! Now I have those as well as my newly acquired Tomie and Noriki's Dinner Table to watch.

Hmm, I've heard of a few of these, like Audition and Ebola Syndrome. I hear Asian horror movies are pretty extreme. If you like them, you should check out the Guinea Pig series (Warning: extremely graphic content in that site) o_O I know those body parts aren't real, but they make a hell of a job by making them seem real.
Also, haven't watched it, but found out quite a bit about Men Behind The Sun - it was quite controversial and I think it's still banned in some countries. Just check out the "Controversy" section and you'll see what I mean. The director himself said that the cat and rats were real, and it wasn't just to attract fans because exactly that made it have such a niche fanbase. I don't think I'll ever have the courage to watch it >_>
OK, don't take this the wrong way or anything, but I didn't think Shutter was that great. And this isn't coming from someone who's biased against Asian films, since I watch films from all countries. I don't know, but the single scary moment for me was the scene when they visited the old lady (the ghost girl's mother, if I remember correctly). I didn't feel too much for the ghost herself either, she annoyed me most of the film. However, the ending was interesting, couldn't predict that one.
Sorry for making such a long post, I get carried away when talking about movies XD I think my to-see list just got longer, thanks to you :) Now I gotta run to comment on the Anime & Manga post! Thank you for the intriguing read!
