I do agree that we can go to an extreme in our paranoia, and in the end be consumed by it. I think people take the easy way out - denial of the larger problems - and when we don't face up to the issues of our society, we keep digging the hole even deeper.
As for the YunJae thing... heh the imagination is a twisted thing =3
The best I can say about that gun violence thing is that it does still happen here, and there've been more than enough of 'em in Greater Vancouver alone. Beyond that, there is - as the saying goes - more than one way to skin a cat, and plenty of murders happen without guns as well.
That said, I've absolutely no problem with your feelings that changes need to be made in the collective American mentality.
. . . and I've very little to add about YunJae. Those bits confuse me, but that's okay.

But Seinfeld has no storyline. xDD
Now that I think about it, someone could probably just film the boys' day-to-day lives, and it could probably still pass off as a sitcom. xD

The American violence part makes me depressed so I went straight to the YunJae part. :3

Well, that's all the book says. I'm guessing the accidental shootings & suicides are probably part of that whole "three times more likely" thing. >_>;
But we all know that no American station will pick it up because YunJae are teh gheiz. :'((

Yeah... I find it irritating when people are all, "Oh, you live in America? How d'ye like them guns and homicide?" It's a big country, guys. ^^;
