Huh, that sounds like some philosophical issues I'm familiar with: differences between cultures, where the difference arise in "how we see the world". It's quite thought provoking to think how even cultures from another era might not be entirely intelligible to our "modern, western" minds. It's an issue that's always in my head, so I'd like to see how a play handles something similar. It's sounds pretty good!
I just watched for the first time The Girl Who Leapt Through Time two nights ago (first saw Summer Wars, too, roughly over a month ago). Pretty good films to watch and discuss together in a group! (The math nerd in me went "squee!" when I found out Kenji was a mathlete, haha.)
