Okay, I'm definitely taking note of this one. I've found myself becoming more draw toward anime with political scheming (provided, of course, it's well-crafted and not clumsy). I guess it's because I kinda understand that stuff know, whereas years ago it all went over my head!
When I'm sure I'm ready for it, I'll give it a go. Considering how long it is, though, I might have to forgo my usual one-episode-a-day rule and watch 2-4 eps per day.
108 episodes!!! It would take me forever to watch it, haha. Knowing how I sometimes have a difficult time watching anime everyday, if I started it now I'd probably be finished around...oh, Christmas or so.
I'm not totally sure how to answer that question, because it's being answered in the current arc! But there is a definite connection to the original series, although AO takes place on another world.
Yeah, LoGH is massive. But because of its length, the setting is probably the most fleshed-out I've seen in an anime. The plotlines and the pace at which those plotlines are developed are also much more ambitious than in most other anime. So in the end, I'd say it uses the time it has wisely. ^^
LoGH is basically Political Scheming 101: The Anime. There's always someone trying to usurp someone else. To be honest, the show is basically a series of conversations on war, strategy, and politics. My favorite character, Yang Wenli, has a habit of going off on lengthy tangents, wherein he lectures everybody around him about political ideology, human behavior, the pros and cons of different forms of government, etc. All while drinking tea heavily spiked with brandy. I'm very fond of this character. xD
Dude, that's when most people begin to really get into LoGH! It's also around that point when Reinhard starts to become progressively more unstable, which is always fun to watch.
Okay, so what is Eureka Seven AO? Is it a sequel or an alternate universe or what? I've never actually looked into it myself, though I'm still curious. ^^;;
And this reminded me that I need to start watching Hunter x Hunter at some point. x_x

Man, there's like 108 episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes! I need to get back into it eventually. I stalled on ep20 for reasons I can't remember. I might have to start over again, actually ...
And because you're obviously so curious, I'm watching ...
-- Binbougami ga!: Not usually into this style of anime humor, but it's clicking with me because the two female leads are awful people and are trying to make each other's life as miserable as possible. That is always funny.
-- Eureka Seven AO: Was getting bored until the last couple of episodes, and now it's suddenly really interesting.
-- Hunter x Hunter: Because Hunter x Hunter is the best shounen.
-- Humanity Has Declined: Getting better with each episode. The latest one, in which the "manga boom" is recreated, is all kinds of wonderful.
-- Joshiraku: The first episode bored the hell out of me, but the second one got a few laughs. Tentatively sticking with it.
-- Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!: Mostly to see how fucking dumb it gets.
-- Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: Up and down, but still the best Gundam I've seen in a good while (not counting Unicorn since I'm not caught up on it). Second arc in particular is goooooooooood stuff.
-- Moyashimon Returns: Not bad so far. Hoping it finds its groove soon.
-- Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse: mecha lol
-- Natsuyuki Rendezvous: I'm digging it so far, even though both dudes seem like terrible people so far lol
-- Space Brothers: I'm digging the shounen tournament-style arc we've got going on right now.
And not currently airing stuff ...
-- Future Boy Conan: I think this was the first TV series directed by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. Or one of the first. I dunno. It definitely has their pawprints all over it, though. I'm digging it so far.
-- Aquarion EVOL: This is dumb in the greatest way. I love this show.
Aww, I'm not watching any of those! I was, however, looking at Natsuyuki Rendezvous, but I didn't pick that one up (I've got a few that I'm juggling with little success.) You'll have to tell me how that one turns out, so I can make a note of it later on.
I've definitely heard of LofGH, but haven't watched it yet. (I'd like too, though.) I didn't know it had more than one season, so I guess that's good to know, since I watch anime so damn slowly, haha. But if political scheming is involved, then I'm interested.

@Pleiades Rising:
The episode count is intimidating, but if/once you get into it, your mindset quickly changes to, "Oh no, there's only 30 episodes left!"
Which is the state that I'm currently in. ^^;

Whoa, that screencap from LoGH is priceless!
