Oh, and I think knowing Japanese will probably help, especially if you know the Chinese pronunciation for kanji. You might accidentally say the numbers in Japanese for a while, but it's just a phase. :)
Hmm... charts for radicals were in my textbook, so I don't know of any online resources for that. As for tones, if you want to practice listening comprehension, this website drills you on them. It's technically missing the neutral tone, but whatever, no one cares about that one. xD
Also, the website I previously linked, nciku, has voice recordings for most words, as well as the pinyin + tone marks, so you can practice listening to tones in that way too.
One more thing...I'm using livemocha.com currently but are there any websites or tools to learn tones and radicals? Also since I know some Japanese already will I have a tougher or easier time learning Chinese?
Six-year-olds and nuclear weapons: a combination that just can't be beat.
Okay, first of all, make sure to memorize tones! It is a huge pain to be forced to re-learn how you say words because you didn't memorize tones from the get-go. There are words that I learned a long time ago that I still pronounce incorrectly out of habit. :/
Also, I highly recommend you study radicals. It might seem like a pain at first, but people who know radicals seem to have an easier time memorizing characters.

Loooove Johan. <3333 That is some gorgeous art right there. Unf.
Monster is such a great anime...I haven't watched it in years...but you're right, it's a story that you never forget or stop thinking about.
I don't really read fanfics...but I can see that happening. It's like how people always portray Loki, too.
Take care~
