This is something I hope bleeds out as each successive generation grows up with more influential women, even if it happens slowly. I've been surrounded by influential women my whole life: My mom, many of my best teachers, my editor-in-chief my senior year in college, my mentor at work, etc. so I sure as shit don't have problems in leadership roles. In my experience, women know what they're doing!
I have been tremendously lucky to have no boss -- male or female -- who used intimidation to motivate people, though. :p
Some of those beliefs (and I would even say "dogmas") can be traced back decades and centuries ago. Even in older political philosophy writings, it's not unusual to find some thinker structuring society around and dominated by male characteristics and individuals. The women were usually "irrational" or somehow incapable of serious thought. Today, it's not quite that bad, but some of that thinking still exists among everyday people (and probably some intellectuals or the socially elite). It works not exactly in the forefront, but does its work quietly in the background, unnoticed or unexamined.
I think it's good to have people pointing this stuff out, questioning the assumptions supporting everyday thought in society.
