Christopher (Billy Drago), a Victorian era American journalist, is traveling through Japan looking for Komomo (Michie Itô;), a lost girlfriend whom he had promised to rescue from prostitution and bring to America. Landing on an island populated solely by whores and their masters, he is solicited by a syphilitic tout (Mame Yamada). She claims no knowledge of Komomo, but Christopher has to spend the night, requesting the company of a girl (Youki Kudoh) lurking back in the shadows, who joins him in his room. (from Wikipedia)
The movie is shot beautifully though some scenes looks like it's been shot from a studio, especially that river scene. But one thing though that distracts me is the bad english, unfortunately its in english and the actors were Japanese so I couldn't understand some of the lines.
Also Billy Drago's acting kinds of distracts me as well, cause I've seen some of the movies he starred in and it's all good except for this one. I read in one YouTube comment that he looks like he is drunk, which I kind of agreed (too much SAKE perhaps?).
When I watched it on YouTube, all of the gore scenes were cut, which is annoying and made me buy a copy (seriously none of my friends likes this kind of movies). The torture scene is intense!
This movie is episode no. 13 of the first season of Master of Horror. I read in Wikipedia that it was supposed to air on cable but due to the disturbing scenes (those scenes that was cut on YouTube) it went straight to video.
