So, I know of course that it's standard for prettymuch any website to have a notification system that tells you when you get new comments, subscriptions, etc...
yeah, no problem there, wouldn't have it any other way...
But the thing that's bugged me for a really long time, and that I'm frankly surprised has not been addressed yet, is the fact that it sends us a notification when we comment on our own stuff O___o...really?...I'm mean it's just kind of annoying.
I dunno about everyone else, but I really don't need to be notified that I commented on my own picture guys, thanks, the short term memory thing in my brain works pretty well.
I mean yeah it's not a huge issue, it's a minor annoyance, but it's just completely unnecessary and it's been around since the advent of Version V...just kind of...sloppy...-____-
You have been warned...
so what's so bad that it requires a prior-warning-necessary level vent-rant?
weeelll...I think the best word for it is immaturity...with sub-definitions of selfishness and spoiled...ness...and stuff...mainly the dim a dozen CRAP you see spewed all over the internet.
first off, yes, I know, I know the type of stuff I'm about to get into has been going on for ever and a day, and will continue to do so until the end of time, I get that, I really do, but sometimes, it just kinda gets to you, ya know?
Need more info before deciding to go forth in this or not? kay, here it is...
Parent-Hate. yep...that's the best way to describe it...
now, I feel must explain a little more of my stance on this before I go forward, especially in this day and age...I do understand that, very, very sadly, a lot of people DO have very relevant and understandable reasons to resent/hate their parents/people in charge of them. I know that in this world, sexual, emotional, mental, and physical abuse, neglect, etc. and so forth, exist, and many people are enduring/have endured that sort of stuff, and a lot come from their parents, the set of people in their lives that in the ideal world, are supposed to love and protect them. It's not with those people that I have a beef with, they have reasons for the feelings and damage they have, and my sincere hope for every one of them is that they all escape those types of monsters and go on to live peaceful, good lives where they won't be hurt anymore.
My issue, is with the ton of snotty, spoiled, selfish, and ungrateful little brats out there that decide on a regular basis that their parents - who do not fall into the abusive/neglectful categories, and are, in fact, just trying to be parents in most cases (i.e. trying their best to do what's best for their kids) - are the most horrible creatures on the planet for a plethora of stupid, petty reasons, and they don't even try to understand where their parents may be coming from when they disagree on something.
Sure, maybe they're all being a**holes in part because their hormones are going nuts at this point in their lives, and therefore they are not quite in their right minds as much as they may think they are (cause we all know that when you're 16, you are ALWAYS everyone else - especially your elders - are wrong...unless they think exactly like you), but I'm sorry, a lot of times, that excuse only goes so far.
Nevermind the fact that these people have brought you into the world, fed you, clothed you, provided and paid for medical care when you were sick/hurt, and generally looked out for you, or at least try to, all that matters is that they're questioning your judgement, or, God forbid, worrying about your well-being, in dating someone too old for you who for all the info you give them could be some sicko fishing for victims in this day and age, or telling you that you need to cut down on texting/using your cell phone because you're running up the phone bill (which, by the way, THEY pay for) therefore, they're monsters that deserve our displays of our hatred for them and their entire generation openly on our various internet profiles and activities.
I saw a topic posted in a guild I was part of on gaia (keyword, WAS, I left after this, it was the last straw, the place seemed to be full of these little brats, as gaia is also full of...causing me to grow increasingly tired of the place save for a few friends I have there.) the thread was asking why parents want their kids to stay "innocent"...gee...I dunno...maybe because they know where sleeping around and being easy can land you? maybe because they know that letting you go out and have whatever, with whoever you want, is like ringing a dinner bell for predators who will use you up and toss you aside? Maybe because they want you to not be cheated out of a childhood or an otherwise special, relatively carefree time in your life by worrying about getting pregnant or wondering how you're going to be a mother or father to a kid when you're still one yourself??
It just disgusts me, it really does...it disgusts me when these kids mercilessly bash people who honestly love and care for them, and if it came down to it would probably give their lives for the same little snots that are treating them like crap.
I think part of the reason is because I know a lot of people, and almost all of them have parents that love them like parents are supposed to and at least try to support them, normally, that should count for something, but I think to a lot of kids nowadays, it doesn't hold as much weight at it should.
so yeah...that's what's been eating at me lately...as mentioned before, this doesn't apply to all kids who claim to hate their parents, some of them are justified in those feelings, some "parents" don't even deserve that title, and really are monsters, and some kids have other issues such as medical conditions, etc. that mess them up, But if you are not one of the later mentioned cases, and your parents are not abusing or exploiting you, if they aren't forcing you to grow up faster than you should (because they're deadbeats, on drugs, alcohol, etc.) if they tell you they love you when you get off the phone with them or write it in your Bday cards and you know they mean it, and they clothe, feed, and take care of you, to the best of their ability, you have nothing to complain about, and those people do not deserve the hatred you seem to harbor for them, freakin' cut them some slack already, like you seem to want everyone to do for you.
...kay...rant over...it's 2am...should go to bed now, but maybe this'll make me sleep better, who knows.
yeah...no clue why I keep writing here...I think maybe it's sort of therapeutic in a screaming-into-a-pillow kind of way. Gets things off one's chest without the risk of starting unnecessary drama because this place is so dead most of the time XD
anyways yeah...anyone who's played medicore video games like, say, any of the Warriors series from Koei (yes i'm a fan, but even I acknowledge their half-a**ed-ness) and had that time where you see that one little AI controlled dude that's either stuck on a wall or just glitching out and turning impossibly tight, twitchy little circles?...
...yeah...that's who I feel like right now :)...
...seriously, I need a RL life job NOW, or I swear I'm gonna go insane...or my head'll explode...whichever comes first lol...it's like all the days are starting to blend together into one long string of mediocre existence...>_>...it's actually a little disturbing sometimes...
but yeah, anyways, that's it...
yes really...later peeps...
Just something I've wanted to rant on for a long time...and not talking about freelance/hobby artists like myself, we have no real obligation to draw anything we're not into really.
I'm talking about the work professional artists who produce the shows and manga we all consume.
(yep, I'm going there)
anyone else ever notice that the horses (and often the animals in general but horses are among the worst) in anime usually look really horrible?
Like, I totally get that they're usually not the focus of the story, and all that, blah blah blah...yeah...we know...
But tell me, is that really an excuse for the frankly shocking lack of animal drawing skills? It's like no one is even trying and expect no one to notice how bad it really looks, like they're deliberate half-a**ing.
I mean it's one thing when an animal is not as detailed so as to not take away from the important characters, it's entirely another when they're done so badly that they actually begin to distract me from what they want me to pay attention to...they want me to pay attention to the dramatic tension going on between the two characters conversing on the screen, But I can't get it out of my head how utterly freakish and ugly the horse in the background looks or how horrid it's movement is.
I know horses are hard to get right, their anatomy is difficult, their movement is complex and very different from dogs and cats, but for normally professional artists to be as bad as I've seen, I really think the effort really has to be lacking on their part.
And come on, if you're going into a project that involves maybe drawing something one's not used to drawing, there's something called researching your subject matter, at the very least so you can do it just well enough to not detract from the important stuff and the stuff you are good at.
I dunno, I guess I'm just tired of the laziness when some of these artist do just about everything else beautifully, but not this one basic aspect that they have workshops for in art school.
...and on a side note...has anyone else noticed that a lot of the horses in anime look like clones? Like, 99% of the time, they're the same ugly dirt brown with a slightly darker brown mane/tail...it's a conspiracy! the brown freakish horses will inherit the unsuspecting anime world!! O_O lol
And I've been writing a lot lately on here...I don't know why...maybe cause I have nothing better to do...or had a lot of petty crap to get off my chest, I dunno...oh well.
So this is a slightly awkward thing for me...
I like competing in the occasional challenge here, I like the competition, and it's rewarding when you win and earn another decoration for your portfolio, etc...
but a lot of times the prizes offered other than the usual medals/theO gifts are actually a turn off for me...>___>...
It's like it's excessive for me in a way, to no fault of the host, it's just like, there's people that'll offer, like, 4 requests for first prize and I honestly have nothing to request...regardless of the skill level of the artist offering the work they could be amazing artists worlds better than myself and yet I really wouldn't want anything in particular...I just never know what to request...
and then with wallpapers, I almost never use them...and then some people are really busy with school and seem too busy to do requests, so not only is there the expectation that the requested work may never get done (understandably), but it feels like something that places unnecessary extra work on the host.
For me, to be completely honest, as corny as this'll sound - the winning/placing is enough in and of itself, that little medal/title is all I need or want.
...and then sometimes this can actually cause me to not enter a contest...oddly, especially if it looks like I have a particularly good shot at winning...because I know if I end up with a win, and don't really want the prizes, I don't feel right about declining the prizes or requesting that they be granted to the runners-up, for fear that it would offend the host or make it look like I have no appreciation for the work they're offering...
so I dunno, does anyone else have these issues? >.>
It's not that I don't appreciate the work they're offering, it's just that I'm not a requesting type of person...
I dunno I guess that makes me a horrible show-off, I just like competing for the chance to have my art win for the sake of winning, not for the chance of winning something (other than the medals/gifts)...then again I thought that's kind of part of the idea of contests...so I dunno >.>
P.S. regarding gifts, I noticed some people on here have received little red hearts as gifts...I was wondering how one obtains/sends such thing since I went and looked and the hearts were not available to send...were they a temporary Valentine's Day thing? or something only premium members can access? I dunno, I liked them a lot...and I was bummed because I intend to give special gifts for those who do a specific theme in the contest I'm running, and the hearts would have been perfect. :(
