Hi! I think when we look at images , that they can be moving, disturbing, technically well donekbut without feeling. I try as often as I can to leave comments, they help us to growk m, experiment. But I think we are now so overloaded with information , we all try to dothings real quick which leaves me with the feeling "So-- what do you think or react" Dont have to be all positive-- and now I find myself without the time to draw a stick figure! I miss art.
. . . sorry guys. I confess to be one of those fav-and-runners, gomen a sai!!!
I really hadn't though about how unfair it was to the creator to fav/like a piece, but then not even say what in the world I liked. I guess it's kinda because 1. I figured if they can create such good art they wouldn't need me to say 'WHOA! That's totally amazing!' Because it would be obvious to them and others. I guess that's a illogical mindset though. I mean, the point of theO is to cultivate and grow artistic excellence as far as you can take your skills. If I'm not praising other people's work, I'm not helping them grow at all. (just greedily gobbling up their amazing work). 2. A lot of times I'd like to compliment or suggest something but I don't know how to say it. An artist is hardly going to respond positively to a "you know that squiggly line thingie on the other side of that shaded area? Well I think it could use a straight line thingie instead.' If I don't know the computer/art term, I'm not very likely to try to say something that makes me sound like a complete idiot. And 3. I'm never sure if I should write (hopefully helpful) criticisms on a piece. Most of the comments I see are 'This is so beautiful!' and 'I've never seen a piece that brings out the colors so vividly!' and ect. . . Okay, a slight exageration, but I feel like Miss Rain-on-your-parade-thundercloud when I try to suggest that maybe this piece could still use some more tweakage. Not that I'm condemning positive comments. There's nothing quite like them to give an artist's soul that warm, happy glow.
Maybe I'm being too sensitive about this. Don't really know so I'll let you be the judge. Anyway, maybe this might help exonerate some fav-and-runners in your eyes, maybe not.
I know right? it's like the only pictures that get anything anymore is fanart of only the most popular series'...regardless of said artwork's quality >_<

Yep, I know just what you mean. It's really hard to get feedback these days.
