Yes, that can be it...But it's all of a sudden so I'm kinda annoyed and excited at the same time. Lol, sometimes I strain my ears on purpose to listen to far away sounds! :P
Maybe your ears where clogged and then they popped it happens to me sometime. its like i can hear everything for the first time when it happens ha ha! and its nice that you are helping your mom out (:

Youre lucky your hearing is so good. Im near deaf. If mine gets just a little worse, ill need heading aids. But usually if you hear a ringing in your ears when its all quiet its because your ears are producing a frequency (the ringing) to make up for the lack of sound.

My hearing is always that sensitive. For some people from, I'd like to say, 16-32-ish can experience an increase in hearing sensitivity. Sometimes it lasts days, others years. If you are like me and have a genetic mutation, it will almost always be sensitive till the day ya die.
