Welcome to Bootleg News Reporter
A world dedicated to anime, manga, and Japanese news found on the web, so you don't have to go to more than one site.
Since the news being presented here is from other sites, they are not my original work and all credit goes to the original author. I'm really bootleging information, thus this world's title.
Well, hope these posts are useful and if you want to be a guest poster, please pm me.
Ok, I finally made a background^^ but I'm still tinkering with the header banner though. If you have ideas about the Bootleg's design, please let me know.
Okay, so there's a Japanese guy named Nakamura Shunsuke who currently plays soccer over in Glasgow, Scotland for the Celtic Football Club who's been rumored to be coming back to Japan soon. Apparently, that's not gonna happen, despite this chants like this lovely one made up by cross-town rival Rangers FC fans:
For the record, dog is mainly a Korean dish for less-than-ample times. It seems as if Nakamura is going to brush off the chants, as he has many fans over in Scotland and does well there.
The sumo wrestler Kotooshu is making waves in Japan, on his way towards the Emperor's Cup.
The funny thing is, he's a gaijin.
Kaloyan Mahlyanov, originally from Bulgaria, is on his way to being the first European in history to win the Emperor's Cup, the prize at the end of the 15-day tournament he is currently participating in. While he only wanted to simply post a winning record to keep him in the ozeki rank (second-highest sumo rank), but has shown an impressive enough presence to have people believe he is going to win. He can, provided he does not lose two more bouts. Here's a video of him defeating the Mongolian-born Hakuho:
It's a little wierd if you're not used to the whole sumo scene, but it's still interesting. Sumo started as a Shinto kami ritual and now is a professional sport (only in Japan).
Oh, by the way, that was salt they were throwing. Yeah. It's a purification thing.
After the Great Pacific War, Japan signed a Constitution/treaty that would limit the military to only a defense-based program. Recent Diet meetings have lead to the repeal of a 1969 ban on military use of space. Instead of classifying space as a "nonmilitary" area (and therefore out-of-bounds), it would be classified as "nonagression" (allowing for a "defense-based" space program). This doesn't necessarily mean Japanese astronauts, but rather defensive anti-missle and spy satellites.
A scene from the animated version of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure as some Islamics in Egypt enraged at the usage of the Koran in a close proximity to terrorism.
The above picture is of Dio Brando reading out of a text. The character, one of the central villans, is basically a freaky vampire who hides in Egypt after being awakened from a 100-ish year sleep. He is determined to finish what he started and kill off the Joestar family (a.k.a.: the Jojo's) and has no regard for human life whatsoever. The fact he is using the Koran might have been a thing of innocent ignorance or irony on the part of the animators, but was not intended to reflect that Muslims are terrorists. An apology has been issued, in typical Japanese-business fashion.
Well as we all know the new Indiana Jones just came out today and with a release of a new movie to the saga, comes Indy merchandise. From an article I saw in Wizard’s Toy Fare magazine from about a month ago or so, came a few pages taking about the newest and quirkiest Indiana Jones’ goodies.
Here are some vinyl chibi statues from the famed Kotobukiya models and figurine company in Japan. A sample of some of their most well know work are the figurines from the Final Fantasy series, and Kingdom Hearts Series, along with many other famous animes, games, and comic book characters.
The figurines shown here are: Indy (Of course!), Indy’s father, Henry Jones Sr., Marion (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Mola Ram (Temple of Doom, why they picked to make him instead of Short Round or any other character is beyond me.). These figures are sadly exclusive to Japan.
Kotobukiya got some of the rights to the Indiana toy series in 2008 and got the Urban Vinyl artists, Panson Works Group to make some of the models.
I believe the artist of theses statues is Yupon (I don’t have the first or last name, since I forgot to write it down when I first took the picture from the article.)
This information is from Toy Fare Magazine, issue (either March or April) of this year. The rest of info of the rest of the artist name etc. was lost and stored away in a big warehouse of identical crates, under the lock and key of the government. (actually I forgot to write it down) .
Hi everyone Fallenangel8 here giving you my highlights of the news in Anime.
