For the first article, my personal opinion is that a person can become violent from two main factors: environment and personal will. Manga may lead to murders, but a person still has the personal will and self-control to stop himself from doing it. What I liked about this article was that it didn't attempt to paint manga in general as a very bad thing.
For the second article......what the hell? I'll admit that I sometimes would like to live in the fictional two-dimensional world of anime, although that's just a dream that I would prefer to remain a dream. But to legally marry them and "fulfill" that fantasy?! Now that's taking it too far.

First off, I agree the argument against manga and other sources of entertainment as promoting violence to be nothing more than political propaganda and excuses. I'm sure everyone on this site, at least, would more or less agree. But we've heard this argument... so it's the second article that I find truly disturbing.
I... What?
Don't get me wrong, I've fallen for fictional characters countless times. I made my little anime harem just a few days ago. I read books and watch movies and read manga as an escape. And when the real world gets to be too much, sometimes it feels like these fictional people are just better than those in real life. They are not, despite this, real people, and, no matter how good the character development, never will be. Letting a fantasy get in the way of a real, solid, working relationship is a bad thing. The escape offered by forms of entertainment are not an excuse to avoid any kind of social life at all. And being an otaku with feelings for a character is not reason to join in marriage and cut off the chance of ever finding that one person. How would your relationship grow? How would you bond, talk, carry on a conversation? Fanfiction? What if they author kills off your beloved? Then are you a widow, or do you just ignore that part of the plotline and remain 'with' the character that was? How could such a relationship bring happiness? I mean, long-distance relationships are hard enough. Not getting to see or touch or laugh with your beloved nearly often enough is a difficult thing. I can't even imagine the pain never even having the possibility of hugging my love to me.
TL;DR version- Yeah. There are some nutjobs out there. ^^;
