Hi! My name is K.D., although most online know me as misachan83. I'm 32, and am an author and anime lover. Welcome to the shadows of my creative and sometimes odd mind
So I decided to compile a list of my all-time top five favorite anime characters of all time, just for fun. Now I will say that I have a lot of favorites, but these are the ones I tend to think of the most whenever the subject comes up, so I thought I’d share them and about why I love them so much! I also included links to pictures, just for reference in case they're a character you don't know
1.Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho:
Okay, so I love all the characters from YYH for many different reasons, but Kurama will always be my favorite. I can remember first seeing this series on CN back in high school, and Kurama’s character design really drew me in. Needless to say, I ended up getting into the series as a whole, and it’s still one of my favorites of all time. But I don’t just love Kurama for his character design either (although I still find him gorgeous). I love who complex his personality is, and how devoted he is to his family and friends, even though he was once a ruthless fox demon. Even today, I still find him to be just as awesome as the first time I saw him in YYH.
2.Alois Trancy from Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler)
Okay, so anyone following this world knows how much I love Alois (Heck, he’s everywhere on here). But honestly, I just found myself liking his character from the beginning. I’ll admit that when I saw the first episode of Kuroshitsuji II, I was a bit confused by him at first. It was obvious that he was highly troubled and sadistic. But the more I went through the second season, the more I was drawn to him for how damaged and complex he really was. I honestly don’t believe that he ever wanted to truly hurt Ciel. I think he was only really after Sebastian, and what he did to Ciel in the end was his ultimate goal. Either way, I feel like Alois added a great flair to the Kuroshitsuji world and I do wish that he’d been in the manga, maybe even growing to be a kind of alley to him (or foe). Anyway, I’ve loved his character ever since for all of his beauty and complexity, and being able to survive like he did (even if a bit insane). So of course he’s on my list.
3.Naomi Armitage from Armitage III
Wow, this is going back really old school, but I’d never leave her off of this list. Armitage was one of the first full length anime movies I’d ever seen, way back when they showed them on the Syfi network. It was done way back the early nineties, and I see it as a classic like Ghost in the Shell. Armitage herself is a robot that is virtually indistiquinable from a human, and even able to conceive a child. She’s badass too, to be perfect blunt about it. When her kind start getting hunted down and killed, she doesn’t hesitate to fight for her own survival. She’s the perfect mix of both strong and emotional, not to mention sexy and beautiful. I can still watch the movies to this day and admire all of that about her.
4.Subaru Sumeragi from Tokyo Babylon
Okay, so I only put TB because I prefer him in that as compared to X/1999. But then again, Tokyo Babylon was one of the first animes that I got to see after Sailor Moon, and I immediately fell in love with Subaru’s character. He’s sweet and kind, yet will fight for what he believes in. I honestly wish they’d done the anime more to the manga, because the manga is awesome and fit better with the X storyline, although the end is way too sad. Personally, I’d love to know if Subaru was able to find some happiness after X, but I guess we’ll never know. But the happy sixteen year old Subaru from TB will always keep that special place in my heart, and I still admire him to this day.
5. Trunks from Dragonball Z/GT
Yep, my last one on this list is a DBZ character. From the first time that Trunks appeared on there, I absolutely adored him. Honestly, I still can’t figure out how such an awesome kid came from Vegeta and Bulma. But I’ve always thought that he was one of the best characters, although he lost a tiny bit of his coolness for a while in GT. His character design is awesome to me, and his loyal personality is too. Now I know that there is a difference in what is Future Trunks and I guess regular Trunks in DBZ, but I like them both too. Hopefully I don’t have any super fans of this serious trying to correct me with any of that. I tried to put that one out there ^^; Anyway, Trunks is just awesome, period.
So those are my top five favs in anime. I might share more of my favorites though in the future. This was pretty fun to do, and it’s always nice to discuss characters and why we like them so much.
