Said captain opened his mouth to respond when the alarm bell rang out loud and clear. "Yare, yare," Shunsui muttered, "It looks like things are starting to move quickly again, Yama-jii."
Yamamoto shook his head. "Arrogant Gods." He then looked to Kyoraku. "It seems Captain Hitsugaya is still alive. He must be found. If he is the Guardian like she informed us. We are in for a battle with the Seraph being locked away."
Whistling lowly, Shunsui leaned against a nearby stalk. "Maybe I should do more reading when Juushiro is not around. These surprises give me a headache."
Phoenix chuckled at them both. “What fools you both are. The Seraph cannot kill. Even if they wanted to they are incapable of such a thing. Why do you think the Guardian of Heaven exists?” Phoenix stepped away from them then looked back over her shoulder. “You cannot separate the Seraph and the Guardian. They will search their Seraph out and they will kill anyone that stands in their way. So beware of the white haired captain when he comes for her.”
Before either of them could ask another question or even speak Phoenix was gone.
Yamamoto now had both eyes open and on the Goddess that stood before them. For the first time in many years Yamamoto felt like the smaller being. He listened to the Goddess then turned to Kyoraku when he spoke up to her. Waiting for his chance Yamamoto spoke to her when his captain for the eight division finished.
"I judge by only what I have heard. I have seen nothing of this Sumi's actions. And farther more I am curious as to know what you mean by Toshiro working with her for over 400 years?"
Slightly wary of the appearance of of goddess, Shunsui stayed quiet until she had finished, keeping his face clear of emotions or reactions. When she had finished, he spoke resolutely but kept his voice respectful. No reason to get on her bad side. Even if he had a lot of experience with women's ire, he did not want to anger this one.
"I came here, goddess, to defend Kita or Sumi, whatever you name you wish to use. If I have some doubts, it is because I spent a lot of time beside Juushiro when he returned with the evil news of her killing Hitsugaya. However, I do remember her running out of a gate, calling us to help her save my friend from Gin's wrath, how he chose to let her escape first." He took a breath and turned back to Yamamoto. "Even if she is a goddess, I wish to give her the benefit of the doubt."
Standing off in the shadows of the garden stood the Goddess Phoenix as she listened to the two men talk. Her arms were crossed under her breasts as she leaned against one of the tall bamboo trees toward the back. When she heard the Head Captain ask Kyoraku to explain Kita’s actions, she stepped forward into the light.
“Does it matter, Genryusai? You and your perfectly organized Central 46 have already condemned Sumi. Would it matter why she did it or not? Would it matter to the 46 if she cared? If she honored them to be more than a soul reaper to her? If she looked at them as her friends? Maybe even more than a friend?”
Phoenix continued her amble toward them dropping her arms to her side, stopping just a few feet in front of them both. She looked to Kyoraku shaking her head. “And you’re no better than the others that reside here in the Gotie. You too doubt the one in question. Even when she came to all of you at Urahara’s and begged you to follow her to save your friend from Aizen’s wreath.”
She chuckled softly shaking her head again. “What she finds in the whole lot of you I will never understand. Even before she was granted emotions and a heart from the Gods--” Phoenix paused as she turned toward a flower and waved her hand over the bud, “and the help of Captain Hitsugaya.” A golden dust fell from her hand to the flower as it flourished and fully bloomed. She turned looking at them again.
Phoenix nonchalantly rolled her eyes and waved her hand in the air. “It’s beyond me how Toshiro work with her for over 400 years.”
"Actually, Yama-jii," Shunsui murmured, putting a hand inside his kimono's sleeves, "that's the second thing I came here for. I don't think Kita killed Hitsugaya-kun." He placed his hands into the sleeves of his kimono. "I'm sure Juushiro would testify on her behalf and then there's the fact that she seemed to risk her own safety to try to get those of us fighting the hollows to rescue Juushiro."
“Hm,” the head captain hummed. “We must inform the others. His division most certainly. Central 46 will be very interested in this and I am sure questions will arise in their investigation on the Seraph. The blame could end up falling on her shoulders for Juushiro’s capture.” Yamamoto shook his head slowly. “Another captains life she could be blamed for.”
Again Shunsui chuckled quietly. "Yeah, he is." He glanced back at the sky, some of his overwhelming worry fading at the master's calm confidence towards his friend. "He'll be okay..." he whispered as a hawk passed overhead.
"So far, I know that Kisuke, myself, the Kurosaki kid, and the leiutenents/captains who responded to the crisis there may all know of this, seeing as we were in the same place," he informed the Captain Commander in a normal voice. "Kisuke and the kid were with me when the Espada grabbed him, that's for certain. Do we inform the rest of them or his division?"

Yamamoto sighed heavily at Shunsui's news. "So Sousuke was able to capture Juushiro. This is a serious matter indeed. Sousuke has bitten off more than he can chew with that one." A small smile crossed his face as he thought of the Captain of the 13th division. Turning he looked Kyoraku way. "He is stronger than they give him credit for.”

Shunsui chuckled shortly and let his hat fall from his head. "It doesn't matter how many years pass. you can still read us like a book, Yama-jii." He sighed and looked at the perfect sky above him. "You know, if I knew that the weight of bearing a captain's title was going to be this much, I might have settled for something smaller...if I had a choice..."
He turned back to his old mentor. "I'm sorry, Gramps, we may have won the battle at Urahara's shop, taking the seraph away from Sousuke and all that, but it came at a high price." He paused then stated the bare truth. "Juushiro was captured, even where I was there at his side. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings." He looked down at the ground and Yama's long shadow, voice a low murmur. "I was too distracted by the violence of Juu-chan's attack. It... hasn't been that bad in centuries." He fell silent, watching the shadows of the bamboo waver on the ground below him.

@Shunsui Kyoraku:
Yamamoto grumbled as he stood from his sitting place. "The Seraph's cell. We go there first."
He then stepped toward the prison knowing Kyoraku would fall in behind him.

Yamamoto did not look his way as he sat in the calm surroundings. Though when he spoke his voice gruff with a soft tone.
"You bare a heavy burden, my son. What is it that weights on your mind?" Yamamoto told him.
