It's Yomi Takanashi from the Black Rock Shooter anime series (there was an earlier OVA, but I picked the anime version). Remember my most recent art? Well, the character I drew and the one in my avatar are connected in a way. I won't say more than that, since I don't want to ruin anything if you watch it sometime!
Believe it or not, I just listened to an opera by Mozart which had two parts written specifically for castratos! It was Mitridate, written when he was only 14. The two parts in the version I watched, however, were played by sopranos.
The things people did for the sake of music for the sake of art.
Ah, Faure...another favorite, and I do love this one, serene and tranquil. I almost forgot about this piece! I'm gonna have to add it to my nightsky watching playlist. I agree that it's just perfect at this tempo, and you know, especially with pieces like this one, it's just better not to go too fast.
Let's also not forget Faure's Pavane, another one that I can't stop listening to. I prefer the choir & orchestra version...just something about it.
Little choir boys have the prettiest voices... :) Did you know that back in the day, parents would castrate their sons in order to maintain their child's voices rather than let them go through puberty and change everything? Their kids were their money banks, basically. Fortunately, that practice was outlawed. :D
Oh, they were called "castratos." O_o;

AHA! That's right... Ok, I knew she looked familiar... I've still not seen the series or OVA. Will have to do that sometime!

Heh, yes it was also about the cold hard cash.
I thought it was about time to change my avatar, so I settled on this one. Yomi looks happy, and that makes me happy.

@Apple Bun:
I enjoy that piece as well, but I feel that I don't listen to it enough. I should remedy that, and put it on my mp3 player, too.
Now I'm trying to think of good stargazing songs...
