I haven't even seen the first season, so I didn't want to jump into the second one (like I did with Nisemonogatari, and not having seen Bakemonogatari).
Umm, Tamako Market is watchable, and fairly amusing, I think. Honestly, I thought it would be more cutesy and fluffy (it is, in some respects), but it also has this slightly off-centre feel to it. Imagine watching K-On! after taking a swift shot of some heavy duty cold medication. Also, talking, noble bird.
Amnesia was the best thing I watched so far, but I'd need to see more to really know how it's going to do. It seems decent, but nothing that really stands out like several of the shows in the fall season.
Ai Mai Mi and Mangirl! are very similar, except that one is about school girls trying to do manga and the other is about barely mature young women trying to create a manga magazine without the first clue as to how to do it. I think they're both web series, so at least they have the mercifully short 3 minute episodes.
I've seen a few people comment on how sparse the winter season is. I think the problem is that the selection of genres is pretty narrow. Quite a bit of the anime is slice of life, or some variant on it. So, the field looks pretty smooth and undifferentiated at first (and second) glance. (Of all 6 shows I'm watching, all are centered around or indirectly connected to school life.)
Oh, how's Ai Mai Mi and Amnesia? I was looking at them, but they never made the final pick.

I'll be previewing this anime for the next Anime Pulse podcast. I've previewed five shows so far: Mangirl!, Ai Mai Mi, Yama no Susume, Cuticle Detective Inaba, and Amnesia. Frankly I don't hold out much hope that anything great will come out of this winter season. The best things look to be average, and the worst... well I'd rather attach a car battery to my unmentionables. That would be less painful.

The only new anime I'm picking up is the second season of Chihayafuru. ^^;
Though how is Tamako Market? I keep seeing gifs of it everywhere, lol. Especially of that bird.
