hmm that happen to my cousin.....the best antivirus atm according to me is nod32 version 4 absolutly good...if that doesnt work u can format ur computer and if u dont want to loose anything u can take ur hard drive to another computer save the files u need and then erase everything and install windows again >.<...pm me if u want me to send u the link were u can get nod32
DNS is just some networking thing (as in internet) but I don't know much about it. Since the virus might be messing with that, the best thing would be to back up everything you wanna keep, and then do a full restore (a CD should've come with your computer to let you do it) since restoring to a prior point won't get rid of viruses, as I learned the hard way. I've had similar problems with my old computer, but that thing ended up eating it's own graphics loader XD
Hope this helps a bit more, I tend to confuse people sometimes.
I am not exactly a tech person, so after reading all that, my head is swirling. (>__<) I do not even know what DNS settings are...
Do you think if I just let the virus sit there, it will be okay? Besides the internet being funky sometimes and search engines not working, there is not really much of a problem.
I'm not sure if using a restore point gets rid of viruses, but going by the name of the virus, it affects your network settings. It probably does what it says- changes your DNS settings, which actually could carry over to the router if it's a wired connection, and that would make things worse (I know almost nothing about networking) I've had some bad viruses, and some of them actually get rid of restore points, so your only choice could be a system restore. If you do that, you really should back up everything to a network-drive like Windows SkyDrive (skydrive.live.com) a flash drive, or some CD's.
Oh, I see. Thank you for the help! We will probably have it looked at by a tech person. (The computer is really old, so we are thinking about getting a new one. I am REALLY hoping we get a new one.)
O ME GAWD! Everything u said in the first paragraph totally happend to me too XDDD
Except I went to my mom and we had to call the dell tech support dude and he fixed it for us u__u
It's all fine now but we had to spend quite a bit of $moolah$ xD
Gud luck with the new computer ^__^
The techie dude recommended the Norton (I think) virus protection program
