Residing in the Mind of Nine

>_> Oops

Right. It's been about a year since my last post. I doubt anyone really reads or anything like that. (I thought I'd update since I'm on a blog roll as of late).

A lot of things has happened in the year:

  • Went to Sakura Con 2011- had a blast again. I also bought my first kigurumi!
  • AE was pretty much abolished. Could have seen this coming from afar though :
  • Went to PAX Prime for the first time! It was amazing, and I'm definitely looking forward to going again next year (if I can).

There's nothing much in terms of conventions. I've also started my 4th year in my program, and I hope that I'll finish it with a blast and be able to start a job right off the bat.

This is going to be another tough year. There will be less time to think about cosplay, anime, conventions and sorts. I feel kinda sad, but I guess this is life.

: (

Sakura Con - Officially a week away

Damn, am I excited.

Unfortunately it is also the end of the school term. I don't even know how I did it last year, but I know I'm suffering this year because of cosplay rush and the mad project rush as well.

So cosplays I need to finish up:

  • Maria Holic - Need to do her vest, blouse, and bow. Then I'm ALL DONE
  • Valkyria Chronicles - Need to do Isara's top, finish her poncho, boot covers, detail the skirt, and a pouch? Not sure if I have fabric for that right now...
Then I'm off to make Mathias's costume... OTL Help me please lol

Though besides that, I'm totally excited.
I get to also see my friend from California. It's like the only time during the year I actually do see him haha. Good times.

Ugh, anyway, maybe I'll update later with finished cosplay ;d

Also, first time doing a photoshoot solo. I hope I do a good job.
I think I'll have to do a mini VC photoshoot as well. We'll see about that.

So Vancouver Olympics...

The whole world knows...The Olympics is coming in a few short days to my home town, Vancouver. I'm already excited, but also dreading the traffic/transportation system of fail. But I get two weeks off from school... So who's really complaining? lol

I don't know. I'm personally not that excited for the games. I love the games, but not so excited that I need to go out of my way to procure tickets and to watch the events (Summer Olympics are more fun anyway ;3). That doesn't mean that I'm going to be a party pooper and not do anything. But holy cow! I am excited for all the free events and things that you can actually DO in Vancouver during this time.

No more boring Vancouver. For at least two weeks.

Not to mention Chinese New Year is right on Valentines day, which means more eating, and celebration. It's like a double whammy year!

Ugh, that means I'm going to be 24 next year. OTL I feel so old.

Hopefully projects during the two week Olympic break won't hinder any of the things Is plan on doing.

Hmmn. I want to draw something. Someone give me some suggestions!

10 things to do before 2010 is over

Feels like I need to do something before the year is over. There are a very few things that would keep me up at night, and wondering if I could actually accomplish a few of my goals definitely did keep me up...

1) Get my N license so that I can drive myself and not have to rely on others.
This is self explanatory. I've been putting this off for too long. I have my Learners License, but for some reason the thought of driving or trying to remember all the important bits and pieces of driving keeps me up at night. I know how to drive (theoretically), but I lack the physical practice. So this year is going to be the year I take another step or two into independence. First time I got my L, my L expired before I could schedule my driving test... Well this year, I'll make sure that won't happen.

2) Become more productive.
When I start a project, whether it be fanart/graphic design/crafting, I want to finish it. I should even pick up the old projects and finish them. I often leave things left unfinished (like a few paintings). Also, I want to "skill up" in my drawing, and other things and the only way that would happen is to become more productive; actively practicing in that discipline.

3) Lose Weight.
I've been saying this for the longest time: I will lose weight. I have a bit more motivation this year than I did for the previous years. One is because I'm getting older-- not that it's becoming a health issue, but the thing is I'm tired at looking at myself in the mirror and feeling bad about my image. I want to be able to look awesome in that dress too, or wear tights and not have to worry about my flabby legs jiggling. (Cosplay would be one of the reasons why I want to lose the weight OTL). But the main reason is because I will be 23 this year, and in 5 years I'll probably be married and looking to start a family. That's only 5 more years before my body will change *if* I have children, and once you have children... well... good bye hawt body : (

4) Learn to cook more awesome food, and bake!
Yeah, Cooking is awesome! I want to do it more often, and learn how to cook different things. It's fun, and I think it will definitely come in handy : p It's also a great way to save some money. I'm already on this goal.

5) Make Money, Save Money.
I want to just jump straight out of school right now, and start doing something that I want to do and can be proud of... but unfortunately, due to school I don't think I can make that leap just yet (not with a full course load of classes). Instead I'll opt for just making money, whether it be online, or through a normal job, I'll do it. I want to be able to make money, spend some, and save some. :d

6) Travel.
I like Vancouver, but it's starting to feel like a bubble. Don't get me wrong, it's comfortable in this bubble, but I would like to see what it's like outside. Going to Seattle every year is one thing, but I would love to go farther. Maybe visit Uncle Jiggly in San Jose, go to London/France/Germany, Las Vegas with friends, or even a cruise. Maybe attempt Hong Kong once more, but also go to Taiwan as well or Japan.

7) Exercise regularly/Build a regular exercise schedule and routine.
This is a little different from the "losing weight" goal. Losing weight here is just a by product. But the main thing is to "up" my energy levels, being more healthy in general, and less reliant on my 4-5 hour naps. Of course, that would also mean building motivation, but that's the point!

8) Really take off on my T-shirt design business.
What I mean is, really push it. Move it forward and make it successful on some level. I don't want it to be just another project I put on the shelf, I want this to happen. I want to see people wearing designs that two of my friends and I have created.

9) Push myself to be better.
This year I really need to start pushing myself to be better. Better in technical as well as conceptual. It's always been my thing to sit back, and listen. I really need to start pushing myself a little bit more. To Question, and be Curious.

10) Be more aware of everything that is happening around me.
It's easy to become absorbed into my own bubble. In fact, I do that too often. I need to broaden my horizons, analyze, think, see.

Hopefully by the end of the year, I will look back and see that most of these things have been accomplished.

For some reason, I find that this year will be the year of change.
I hope that feeling will stay true.

Holidays!

It's been super busy since Christmas rolled around. Dinner and a lot of time spent hanging out with my family. It's great because mom and dad are always at work and rarely ever get time off to stay at home. And during the year, I'm rarely at home on the weekends because I like to spend it with friends--lol. But overall it's good to see my parents taking a break from their hectic work to enjoy themselves.

I have a feeling that I've probably gained another 10 lbs over this holiday just because there's been so much eating, and free time to just do nothing.

Damnit, I'm supposed to LOSE 10 lbs !!

Oh yeah, exciting news. I got a Wii.
So that means that I can play Guitar Hero and other random games. It's really interesting seeing the old folks play it. They're uncoordinated, but it's kinda cute. Just takes getting used to, but at least they're enjoying it. Maybe I can talk my mom or dad into playing Guitar Hero... who knows haha. But so far they've been playing with Wii sports, Wii play, and a bit of the Wii Fit stuff.

I really wonder if the Wii Fit actually works; though, I'd have to admit it's ridiculously embarrassing doing the yoga/aerobics in front of people. (I'll play when everyone's asleep - lol)

Anyway, as far as New Year Eve plans go, I'm going to be off at a LAN party. Yes, what a way to start off the new years but to geek out entirely. I also wanted to dress up and sorts, but I guess I can probably do that another time... When I have more money.

Speaking of which, in the new year-- I need a job. I can't rely on "trying" to make money online (hasn't worked... at all).

Well, Happy Holidays! Happy New Years to you all :D who ever is reading or who ever stumbles upon my dinky page. lol <3

And this shall be the last post of 2009.
