by references I mean that you find a photograph that is similar to the thing you're drawing and then look at how the shadows and lighting on it is ^^

References? Like your pictures? I'm not quite sure how that would work... I know how to use color references... does that count?

Of course it does :) I use the same method for lighting as I do for shading too, you could use references to help, I find using refs very helpful :)

I think the shading looks good, I think the some of the creases on her trousers could be worked on more, but over all I think it is very good :D Keep up the good work :)

I actually had line art for it at the start, but then I changed the placement and side of the colored part and... couldn't get the line to match back up so... '>.> I use SAI because Photoshop costs too much for me...

I think it looks really quite nice! ;u;/
Shading without a line art is really difficult for me, so I'm not sure if I can give you much advice... What program are you using to color this? :o
