This is a WORLD full of resources dedicated to the aspiring artists of theOtaku of all kinds. The term 'artist' is not limited to the categories on theOtaku. Art can range from sculptures, photography, writing, film, graphic art, and much more! We will have a collection of various tutorials and references to offer that will help you improve and learn new skills in whatever you specialize. However, in order to improve, one must also receive feedback on their work. The members of the Creative Community will be available to provide critiques and aid you on your journey as an artist.

Along with the goal of assisting other artists, this is, after all, a community, and we would like to also make this a place where you can meet new people that share your same interests. This is a friendly haven that will hopefully bring together the many members of theO.

If you wish to join this community, please subscribe so you can receive notification on when new things are posted and fill out an application. Members who have subscribed and sent in an application will be given the Guest Poster privilege, and will be able to ask for critiques on their work. To maintain Guest Poster privilege, please provide critiques to other users so everyone can benefit.

This site is designed to run without a lot of supervision. Features such as critiques and corrections depend on the activity of members. Administrators have the responsibility of coming up with events and updating the website every now and then. So please act appropriately and stay friendly.

June 20: Comment Day #3

In order for Comment Days to be as successful as they can be, the Community will have to work together as a whole. Please continue to spread the word about the Creative Community so that we may have more people participate!

Type of Event: Comment Day
Introduction: Leave encouraging comments to theOtaku submissions to help bring members together.
Instructions: Filter the submissions to what was submitted that week. DO NOT start with the most popular pieces. Either filter the section to order by freshness or start at the end of the most popular list. Spend at least 30 minutes commenting. Comments should be encouraging, but also add friendly critiques to help artists learn and grow. Try to comment on at least 3 pieces from each section on theOtaku. Try commenting on the pieces with the least amount of comments.

Writing Weekly Challenge - Week 3 - June 16 - Poet Laureate Practice

If you participate in this challenge, please dedicate it to CreativeCommunity so we may feature you to the rest of the Community! The challenges will always be available through the Event History section of the Creative Community, so you can always visit the challenges that you missed. Here are some writing challenges to start off the Creative Community. All writing entries must be Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced.

Type of Event: Weekly
Introduction: Most, if not all, cities and towns have a Poet Laureate, someone whose job it is to write poetry and perform when an event arises. It's an important cultural position.
Instructions: Write a poem (at least 15 lines long) about a current event in your area or in the world. Must be current. I want you to record yourself speaking it, as well. This is practice in pacing; you notice your mistakes more often when you speak your work aloud.

Art Weekly Challenge - Week 3 - June 16 - Yourself in One Word

Type of Event: Weekly Challenge
Introduction: Describe yourself in one word. Create a piece that is inspired by that one word.
Instructions: No self portraits! You may use nouns, adjectives, verb, etc. to describe yourself, but choose only one word. You do not have to include the word itself in your piece.
Challenge: (Option 1) Fill your canvas and utilize the elements you learned about in the Week 1 and 2 challenges. (Option 2) Use a media you don't normally use.

Writing Weekly Challenge - Week 2 - June 9 - Fiction v. Poetry/Flash Fiction

All writing entries must be Times New Roman, size 12, double-spaced.

Title: Week 2 - June 9: Fiction v. Poetry
Type of Event: Weekly Challenge - Writing
Introduction: Compare the elements of fiction writing and poetry by finding a short piece of fiction and a poem about the same topic (the easiest way to do this would be to choose a historical event and select a subtopic from said event). Describe the differences in tone, diction, pacing, structure, and anything else you deem important.
Instructions: Find two pieces (one prose, one poetry) regarding the same topic. Decide what separates fiction and poetry (your opinion), then write two pieces (one prose, one poetry) about the same topic to show what you learned.

Title: Week 2 - June 9: Flash Fiction
Type of Event: Weekly Challenge - Writing
Introduction: Explore the difficulties of succinctness and solid storytelling.
Instructions: Write three flash fictions (word limit: 200 words each) on three separate topics. Your stories must have coherent plots and round characters. Dialogue is optional.
