Do not remind me that MJ died. I believe and I will believe untill the very end that he was innocent. He never raped or touched anyone! There are a lot of people hungry for fame and money who would invent all kind of lies just to make it easily! I think he was just very shy and sensible and people saw it the wrong way. Also being caught up in the pop industry doesn't help. MJ and Whitney will always be in my heart. If Mariah Carey dies, that will be a sad day too. My childhood artists will be all gone (I mean the ones who mattered to me the most). Mariah annoys me, but I love her. And I will be sad the day she goes... hope it happens when she is really really old.

Truth is I haven't paid attention to the private or public lives of artists since I was a teen; if I like their music, that's usually enough for me, unless they really did something terrible. I don't agree with Gaga being all over gay people (and I've heard they don't either, since she just used them as a publicity stunt). I...don't even know what most of her songs are about, honestly. Though, they're not all about rejection - they're often so strange you don't even know what they're referring to (coupled with the videos that have nothing in common with them, anyway).
Madonna...she needs to realize she's in her 50s and gracefully step down from the stage. Or at least tone it down, I don't think her grandchildren (if she has any) want to see grandma's crotch on TV. OK, she was edgy and new back in the days, but now that's everyone's schtick and she's definitely showing her age when trying to keep up.
I was very sad when MJ died and my parents rubbed it in since I had to translate the funeral concert for them. Scandals aside, he was a legend and I was sad to see him go. That's what I hate most (goes for Whitney too): people criticizing an artist and making their life miserable while they're alive, then doing an 180 and praising them to heaven and back after they die. "Oh, (s)he was an artist, a misunderstood soul" blah blah, good thing you caught it after (s)he DIED.
Urgh, I never could stand Rihanna, I just don't like her voice or the way she acts all "extreme" and "nonconformist". And the fact that she STILL hasn't gotten over the Chris Brown thing. He's all fine and dandy (and successful), while she's singing about S&M and being excited by pain like no one would make the connection *gags* "Man Down" would've been an OK song had it not been sung by her - it doesn't fit her style, didn't have any influence on her future songs and her voice is grossly inappropriate for reggae anyway. And, like Adele, she's too "shouty". This way, that song just annoys the hell out of me.
Personally I can't stand Gaga! Ok, she's something new, but she needs to get over herself! I've read a recent interview and she thinks she's the new Jesus of pop music or whatever! No, wait, not Jesus, Michelangelo more like it!
I tend to agree with people who say she's copying Madonna, but even Madonna is so awful lately! Her latest song makes me puke!
I think Madge is running out of money and needs commercial songs to get by. :D
And Gaga is not the only female on this planet with gay friends! I'm getting tired of her, by the way do you know she is short?! A short narcissistic blonde! And I hope she will get over the fact that the industry originally rejected her songs and ideas! Honey you made it now, I want to see what you've got! I will not cry for you even if you make millions and millions of songs about rejection!!! I get it, now get over it!!! :(
The pop industry is not much. By the way, I miss Whitney! I cried when she died... I grew up with her, God she is one artist I really loved! Who knew I would really cry... :D
You know what's worse than Enrique Iglesias? Rihanna in a sheer top without a bra, on the street! How come she got in a famous restaurant with that outfit?! Trust me you don't want to know this one. :D

Sure, there's gotta be an artist for everyone, that's what niches are for. I can understand why Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift are famous, but I just can't understand the appeal of Nicki Minaj. She doesn't sing, rap, growl, whatever, she just yells incoherent words (they're not even sentences).
And I'd have no problem with her if she didn't influence anyone else to do the same; nowadays everyone (Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and lots more) is trying to copy Gaga's style because she was obviously successful with it...and oftentimes it's a hit or miss thing. I'm not saying Gaga's amazing, nor am I bringing up the "others are jealous of her" defense, but at least there's some coherence to her music/videos/style. After she upped the ante, it's like all the major pop stars thought they should start acting crazy or they'll be left behind and be considered "old" and "uncool". Just look at Enrique with that godawful "Tonight I'm Loving You" (original was "Tonight I'm Fucking You"), he ruined his 10-year-old suave latino lover image of his in a heartbeat with it.
After writing that rambling wall of text up there, I'm beginning to think normal is the new awesome. I weep for the future of pop music.
Oh, and thanks, I'm looking forward to writing about it :D
Edited for more coherent grammar >_>

Ha ha! Funny comment about Nicki Minaj. I admit she looks... well can't find the right word right now. :D
Hmm... I listen to her and other "singers" out right now. See I like their songs, because, let's face it you don't need to many brain cells to get it. God created Nicki Minaj and I agree, maybe he shouldn't have. But here we are and I do believe there's enough space for people like her to sing and for me to do my thing. :)
I don't know, I got tired of this situation lately. Some people are the way they are and if they don't kill anyone or do drugs or God knows what then I'm ok with it. Personally, I wish Nicki and all other pop stars all the luck in the world. By the way I think Americans get it better than we do, after all I think she is their icon. :)
I like Adele and she seems like a sweet girl, but I think people are going overboard. Ok, she's good, very good, but I think people should let her breathe. And I don't know why someone who is normal, talented and maybe smart is so praised? Being normal is the new awesome? Oh my, this world is seriously going down low, way low...
P.S Good luck on your exams and your final paper! Nice topic, by the way!

50 pages?? D: It really has to be that long? Gosh, that's crazy...well...good luck again. >.< Just wow.
I don't listen to the radio...I listen to Pandora, and I've just heard some of their songs from tv in one way or another. But yeah, I don't listen to the radio simply cause I don't have one. XD And the one in mom's car has been broken for a couple years lol. Regardless, Adele is everywhere...and it annoys me. And Nicki Minaj is just atrocious in every way. >>'
Yup, sounds tough but I'm sure those 50 pages will be a breeze to write, considering I'll be analyzing them in relation to politics, media, culture and so on. Thanks :D
Lol, I gave up listening to the radio a few years ago, so I've only recently heard of her (she appeared when, in 2010?). My main gripes with her are the overplaying of her songs and how they're recorded - by trying to make her "quieter", they end up making her sound like she's singing much louder than she already is. I'm not a fan of her voice, I don't feel she's got a style: not jazz, not pop, not opera, nothing. If anything, it's something unclear in between.
Oh, and Nicki Minaj sucks. I am appalled that anyone actually listens to her. If she weren't Lil' Wayne's protegee and just a regular Youtube singer-aspirant, she'd be shot down before her first video got to 1,000 views.
Wow, good luck with your school work! And that thesis! Sounds like something you'll enjoy but might be really tough at the same time, so good luck.
I wish I never knew who Nicki Minaj was either. .__. And I dislike Adele...not a fan of her style of music, and I'm really sick of her...just how popular she is. It's nothing but OH ADELE IS THE BEST. SHE'S SO AMAZING. LET'S GIVE HER EVERY AWARD POSSIBLE. Dx
