Well, before you do...think of Seb's standpoint. He is a DEMON, it's not in his nature, or his DUTY to babysit humans. ALSO, that MAN made a CHOICE to protect Ciel. Not only that, but he had come to the ship even after Ciel had EXPLICITLY TOLD HIM to STAY AWAY! He chose his own fate...it really isn't Sebastian's fault.

After all, if Ciel was in danger, WHO'S duty is it to protect HIM? Sebastian. He isn't under contract to save anyone else...and so that man protecting Ciel kind of voided his need to intrude. After all, that man jumped in the way and Ciel was no longer in danger. Right?

It's tragic...but them's the breaks...under contract.

LOL...well...I suppose most people would say Seb Deserved it. He had pretty much just said that the guy who had died protecting Ciel there was pathetic. And that he'd WATCHED the whole thing, meaning he could've SAVED the man. Right after you find out, his fiance is pregnant...so his child will never know him. It was sad...
