When I first started making cards, I also used Picnik because I had apsolutely no idea how to use Photoshop at all.
I don't know much about Fotoflexer but if you can juggle two programs at the same time while making a card, it shows that you're putting alot of effort and love into making them.
When using Picnik, you should use the eyedropper tool to try to pick up a color that's already in the image and try to make the text blend in.
But either way, for some reason, this card makes me feel happy! lol.
TheO is a great place where everyone will be more than eager to help you with that. :)
Really, it is not that hard, it might seem too complicated at first, but it is actually pretty simple.^^
If you ever want to go back to it and try it again, I could teach you the basics.

Lol GIMP has too many buttons; I need somebody to teach me how to use it. Every time I try tutorials they don't work.
There was actually an image that I added on the righthand side to experiment, but the way it came out bothers me :)
Thanks for the advice!
Not sure why you can't use GIMP, but if that's true, then for what you have done.. This does not look so bad actually. :)
I mean, you placed and picked the right typography there and even the color might be quite suiting.
Now always watch out what image you pick and how you crop it. You cna see here that quarter of the card has different color change on the right, possibly due to two pages scan.
So try to make the colors blend or if you want to combine different contrast, then you can go with another tricks.
Also I am not familiar with these editing programs that you use, so I can't give you the quite advice for which filters and effects to use, but if there are some (like for lighting, shadows, disorder, color effects) try experimenting with them.
I can see that you have potential, so keep on it.^^
Try varying the text size a little more, and I think a deep yellow or black would work best with this card, as the black stands out far too much, and detracts from the editing you've done, (which is pretty awesome considering what you use!)
Keep it up! The card is well developed as a whole in general, ave for some of the weak points I've pointed out above. :)

Ah come on, don't follow the trend! Also, your small text was too small! I missed reading it the first time around. xD;

OK, I'll try that. Thank you for the advice!
