I don't like ears much. *laughs* But since I drew this useing myself as refrence you can't SEE the ears; the hair IS really that thick. Although thanks for kicking my ass about ears. I COMPLETLY forgot about them. XD
And thank you for the rest of the comment- I did read it all I swear! *laughs* I'll remember to DRAW WHAT I SEE next time I shoot for a realistic doodle. Thanks for taking the time to write it all out mate!
Matt, I have... a feeling you don't like ears.
It's true that her hair is dense, but I think even just a little bit of an indicator of a ear tip would make the picture more natural, cause that was the feeling I got from it.
But yeah, it's mostly your proportions, though I would suggest a little more shading especially around the nose, which seems a bit flat right now! And careful shading will help to establish your light source- is it coming from above her? from the side? from a high left angle? Or are there multiple sources?
And try lessening the line defining the chin, and aim to use light shading (smudge like mad) to define it instead.
I really do like her hair though, it's nice and well defined, looks shiny~~ Oh but in art there's one motto that my teachers have hammered into my head-
DRAW WHAT YOU SEE. NOT WHAT YOU THINK IS THERE
Yes, it's so important it requires it's own formatting~ Good luck in your artist endeavors!

Not bad for your first effort. Not bad at all. I just had a class last quarter in observational drawing and learned a lot of things about the facial proportions that I didn't know before. It's really quite interesting *w* Did you know your eyes are in the dead center of your head? I just did a bit of googling and found this: Click Your proportions are a bit off here, and I think you'll catch it with practice. Not too badly though, mind you, just a bit of alteration can solve it.
The hair is lovely. Taking a bit more time with thinner strands might even give you more detail and make it pop more with shading/highlight effects. The nose is a bit off, but with enough practice you can find a comfort zone with that too, shading is key to making that pop. Try to take a bit more time to flesh out the eyes with your pencil, instead of using photoshop for that glare. Using a pencil to go over and gradually shade lightly a few times, rather than hard once or twice, then erasing the highlights with a kneaded eraser works wonders.
Hopefully I haven't confused you, and that link will give you an idea of placement ._.; Good luck!
