I just found out from DCComics.com today that yesterday marked the 75th anniversary of the release of Detective Comics Vol. 1 No. 27 (cover date: May 1939), the comic book issue that marked the first appearance of one of the most popular superheroes to appear in U.S. comics, and by extension, all media (incl. animation and video games). Yes, we are talking about Batman, one of DC Comics' flagship super-heroes. He's been appearing in comics every month nonstop for 75 years and still enjoyed by many readers worldwide today with many more awesome years to come.
You should check out Batman75.com to find out what DC Comics and Warner Bros. have planned to celebrate Batman's 75th anniversary. As for me, I'm in the process of brainstorming what to do to next to for celebrating Batman's 75 years after reading Detective Comics Vol. 2 No. 27-29, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the pilot for the upcoming James Gordon-centric cop show Gotham.

Today, DCComics.com announces that Warner Bros. will release the 18th installment of the "DC Universe Animated Original Movies" series on July 30, 2013, following the release of the Superman Vs. Braniac-themed installment Superman: Unbound on May 7. The made-for-DVD film itself, titled "Justcie League: The Flashpoint Paradox", will be an adaptation of the controversial 2011 Flashpoint comic book miniseries, which preluded the DC New 52 overhaul of the entire DC Universe Canon. In case some of you reading this news post are new to the DC Universe experience, the miniseries itself centered around Barry Allen/The Flash trying to restore his home universe back to normal after an attempt to fix a wrong for his family in the past resulted in an alternate timeline where the 1) Justice League was never established, 2) the Atlanteans and the Amazons were at war agaisnt each other, and 3) Dr. Thomas Wayne (not Bruce Wayne) was Batman and running Wayne Casinos.
If you are the knid of DC Comcis fan hungry for a Justcie League movie, even though the live-action JL movie is not due for another two years, I say mark your calendars for this animated film's release. Checking out this film should help your wait.

Today, I just happened to find out from IGN that DC Universe character Carrie Kelly (whose first introduced incarnation is from the universe of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns) will finally have an incarnation to exist Prime Earth, the core universe of the DC New 52 Multiverse. She's set to appear in Batman and Red Robin No. 19 (to continue the run of Batman and Robin Vol. 2 after its 18th issue), which will be released on 4/10/2013, but DC Comics' website indicates that the 21st issue will have the series name reading "Batman and Batgirl" while Newsma indicates the 20th to carry the series name "Batman and ed Hood" (the series name changing is probably for a temporay time until writers see which works best since Damian Al Ghul's death in Batman, Incorporated Vol. 2 No. 8). This will be the first time a Batman character whose first-shown version from a non-main DC Universe gets a counterpart from the mainverse of a DC multiverse (remember Terry McGinness/Batman Beyond anyone?). Check out the cover from the coming issue, alos found at IGN.
