News: July 2014 is Marvel 2061 Month

Good evening, Marvelites. In July 2014, Marvel Comics will be releasing a series of one-shots exploring the Marvel Universe in the year 2061 A.D.. According to PREVIEWSWorld, the stories, collectively refered to as "100th Anniversary Special", are created to deal with possible ends of the superhero careers of certain heroes or hero groups. For example, the one-shot 100th Anniversary Special: Spider-Man will take readers to a possible future end of Peter Parker as Spider-Man. Anyway, there will be 5 one-shots in the series and they are:

  • 100th Anniversary Special: Fantastic Four (coming 7/02/2014)
  • 100th Anniversary Special: Spider-Man (coming 7/09/2014)
  • 100th Anniversary Special: X-Men (7/16/2014)
  • 100th Anniversary Special: Avengers (7/23/2014)
  • 100th Anniversary Special: Guardians of the Galaxy

It's always nice to see possible futures for comic book superheroes being narrated, even though their respective series are still running because no one can predict how long they've got to run until their finales. Plus, human superheroes in fiction, like people in our real world, know they can't go on with their careers forever (the Bruce Wayne of the Batman Beyond Universe from DC Universe canon for example). For me, the Spider-man one is in maybe read list.

News: Marvel Season One Coming In 2012

Whether you're a long-time fan of the "Marvel Universe" franchise or are just new to the hobby of collecting and reading Marvel Comics-published comic books, here is something you may be interesting in. Next year, Marvel Comics will be releasing a series of four graphic novels titled "Marvel: Season One", where each graphic novel not only revisits the origins of a particular Marvel Unvierse superhero or superhero group with a more contemporary aproach in attempt to meet 21st reader tastes, but also features never-before told adventures that took place within the first year of active duty for that superhero or superhero group. Note that this is no means to reboot anything of the "Marvel Unvierse" franchise, but rather a means to take readers to an earlier time in the history of the Earth-616, the mainstream universe setting of that franchise's canon continuity.

Anyway, here are the installments of the series listed below:

  • Fantastic Four: Season One (to be released in February 2012)
  • X-Men: Season One (to be released in March 2012)
  • Daredevil: Season One (to be released in April 2012)
  • Spider-Man: Season One (to be released in May 2012)

In the meantime, you may want to visit your nearby comic book shop for a free preview guide to these upcoming graphic novels.
