Usually, each film in the direct-to-video adult-oriented animated film series "DC Universe Animated Original Movies" is a stand-alone in continuity terms, but the positive DVD and Blu-ray sales "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" (2009) received convinced Warner Bros. to make the 9th installment a sequel to the hit movie itself instead of another continuity stand-alone. This upcoming movie will be called "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse", and it will be an adaptation of Issues 8-13 of the currently running comic book series "Superman/Batman", which consist together the story arc "The Supergirl From Krypton".
The movie itself involves Superman and Batman battling Superman foe Darkseid, who brainwashes Superman's kryptonian cousin Kara Zor-El for his own evil plans while the Man of Steel himself hopes to teach Kara about living on Earth the way his Earth parents taught him.
Like "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" (2009), this upcoming film will star Tim Daly as Clark Kent/Superman and Kevin Conroy as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Furthermore, this will be the 3rd movie in the series to show Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman together in one story plot. It will be released on Sept. 28, 2010.
