No problem. ^_^ Always here to help. HERE is the FAQ on AP about wallpaper submissions. It has lots of good info on the criteria they look for when choosing what to accept. I used this like a bible when I was first submitting, lol!
No no no thanks. I was just unsure at time why my wallpapers were being rejected. I didn't know it was because of the background or because it looks like a resized scan or things like that. They don't really tell you those things when you are about to submit them, so that's basically just my problem. Thought I do agree I will never get good critique on myo because everyone just says it's great I love it hug. But thanks those sites are HARSH though haha.
Ah, ye olde AP complaint! Lol, boy do I know that feeling! Now, I never got an account on MT, but that's because I spend enough time on here and AP. But let me give you some advice.
First off, I'm sorry that happened...but unfortunately, that's how AP is. I think out of these sites, it is the toughest to submit to and gain recognition, and that is why theO is perfect for those just starting out. I've been on theO submitting walls for over 3 years, and you can see how much I have improved...but the thing is, I didn't really improve from being HERE. sweetdevil gave me wonderful critiques on how to improve or things to change...and then more difficult things to do, like vectoring. She told me about AP, and I should try it (this was over a year ago). I was very afraid to do so...because, like you said, there's a great chance of being rejected. I do believe that the majority of people that submit there get their first walls rejected. Not even just their first, but next and next and next. Even great wallers like sweetdevil was in the hole -600 at first. They do that mainly to deter those that might submit plagiarized walls, but it doesn't seem right to do it to those that really worked hard, like you.
Did you try submitting it to session zero first? That is probably the most important thing to do...with your first and upcoming walls. People then comment there, tell you things to change, and generally help you shape it so it's accepted. I did that with my first one, so then when I submitted it, it was accepted. AP usually looks for the bg to be made by you. They don't accept things where the bg is just a stock photo or texture, or if it's just the scan resized. Next, they want quality...so things must be clear, not grainy. Which wall did you try to submit btw? Maybe I could give some more input as to why they rejected it.
Uh, but yeah, that site is very stressful...before I became a community waller there, and now senior member, I was scared to death after every time I submitted one that it wouldn't be accepted. Once you get promoted, your stuff is automatically approved so that was a major push for me to do better. I made lots of friends on there whose walls are incredible, and I received many comments about things to change...many being harsh, but at the same time I learned A LOT from being on there around such works and words. I still complain about it a lot, and I get depressed over ratings and stuff there, but honestly, I wouldn't be the waller I am now without moving on there...if I stayed on theO, I wouldn't have improved. I would've just stayed mediocre. TheO is the sweetest and nicest place to submit things when you're starting out and need positive encouragement, but it isn't the best to get serious critiques on how to get better.
Your walls are really good though. :) You will improve, and I'm quite sure you would be able to submit on other sites as well. It takes patience and a lot of work, and it doesn't mean sacrificing your style either. When you go through walls on AP you see many different styles and uniqueness to each artist...so it's not like it's a place full of identical robots. *hugs* As for MT, sorry again about that. I don't know how that site works...so I can't give you any insight about it...but that's stupid that they accepted it but then took it down. :/
Anyhoo, don't get down about this!!! Just bounce back and be determined to not give up! *hugs* :3 I had to do that a lot! I still am. XD Sorry I ranted and raved so much...and talked so much about AP. Must be annoying. ^^; Gomen. I just don't want you to feel so heartbroken over it. It's just a website, and like I said, AP is probably the strictest out of all the places.
