I got to watch 5cm on the big screen when it was in town for a JP-related festival. Sooo beautiful. Have you seen Shinkai's game OPs? (Such as... awesome transition here... the ones he did for ef!). Even in his older ones, which don't exactly have movie-sized budgets, his amazing sense of lighting shines through. [/pun semi-intended]

I loved the anime, but the manga is a lot better. If only there would be a season two of the anime...
