Shunsui turned to his leader, face tight and grim. "I'll do it if no one else will, after I give the orders out." He glanced at his hand then laughed bitterly. "Maybe that should be after I visit eleventh division and walk Kenpachi through his paces. That should calm me down."
He looked skyward. "Is there anything twelfth division could do to make it less easy for those traitors to get here?"
Yamamoto placed his hand to Kyoraku's shoulder and sighed. "I do not know. I don't think anyone could destroy it since it resembles Juushiro so much. I know I could not." He sighed again. "But there is no guarantee that this imposter is not Aizen’s method to enter and leave the Seireitei. He will have to be watched carefully.”
"Sumi, Kita was right," Shunsui muttered as they walked down the hall. "Juu-chan's gone." He halted as they left the hallway, looking over his shoulder, calculating shrewdly in his mind, and then, threw his fist, energy snapping around him but reined in, at the nearest wall. Blood sprayed his face.
"That bastard just waltzed in here when he was vulnerable and took him and we let him," he growled deep in his throat. "Our defenses were wide open."
After a couple moments, he withdrew his bloody fist from the wall. "Yama-ji, what do we do about his twin?"
Yamamoto patted Juushiro's shoulder and smiled kindly at him. "Rest now, my son. We will talk more in detail when you are better."
Yamamoto shook his head as he turned following Kyoraku path. "If you breach these walls Sousuke you will never leave. I will make you pay for all your crimes with one swipe of my zanpakuto." He sighed and left the room to let Juushiro rest.
"Very well," Juushiro answered, eyes closing yet again. "I'm sorry, Yama-jii, Shunsui, I am getting tired again."
The sick man knew there was something his teacher and best friend weren't telling them, something else wrong, perhaps like his senses of Sogyo, but he couldn't ask what. It wouldn't help... He closed his eyes, soaking in the dim warmth from the curtains.

"Yeah, I know. This will do," Shunsui grumbled. He drew his own zanpakuto and crossed the two swords. "We'll get past this, Juushiro." Then, he lowered his own. "You worry about getting better and nursing your wounds. Leave Seireitei to me."
A small smile settled on Juushiro's features as he pulled out Sogyo no Kotowari. He drew it out of its sheathe, chuckling quietly to himself as he held it out before him. "Retsu will have my head if I tried to change it now." The blade gleamed, perfect, without a mark.
"What?!" Juushiro gasped then he sighed, seeing the weight on his teacher's shoulders. "I'm sorry, Sensei. I couldn't protect either of them." He looked into his lap, closing his eyes, as Yamamoto gave his orders to Shunsui.
Yamamoto closed his eyes and sighed, "Sumi was right." He thought to himself. "She will be put to death." he told Juushiro.
Yamamoto turned and looked to Kyoraku. "Sousuke nor his espada are to breach the border of the Seireitei. We will protect the Soul Society with our very lives. In two days the execution of the Seraph will take place. That is when I believe he will attack."
Juushiro leaned into the cool hand. "Maybe that's what happened. The last thing I remember is the Espada's needle digging deeper into my heart as he drew blood out a slow pace." He closed his eyes, taking the strength offered by his friend. Then, he jumped away.
"Wait, hearing, Kita! What happened?" He turned to Yamamoto. "She didn't kill Captain Hitsugaya."
At that moment, his breath hitched in the tell-tale sign of another attack. Juushiro grabbed a tissue just before doubling over, a particularly painful cough shaking through his body. Clenching his trembling fingers, he rode it out and turned back to the guests in his room, eyes feverish and scared.
"What have I forgotten this time?" he demanded, breathing ragged.

Kyo visibly started. "What do you mean when? At her hearing, of course." He paused then took the initiative to check his friend's temperature. "Did you pass out on your way back here?"
Juushiro blanched then his eyes narrowed. "What the hell did Sousuke do to her to make her think that?" he hissed, before hunching over and coughing into his hand. Shaking, he wiped his hand on a tissue and tossed it in the trashcan. He closed his eyes, taking a shuddering breath, and opened them. "And when did she attack me?"
Yamamoto sighed as he stood beside Juushiro bed. "I am sorry to say we are not here for a social visit. No matter how much I wish it were."
Yamamoto paused and looked to his student. Both of his eyes open as he gazed deep into Juushiro's. "It seems the Seraph is accusing you of being an imposter. She is saying her frantic and aggressive behavior toward you was because she knew you were actually Aizen in disguise.” Yamamoto watched Juushiro’s responses, actions and tone waiting for his reply and reaction to the news.
Juushiro chuckled, smiling brightly. "I don't think Retsu would appreciate that joke, old friend." He looked down into his lap. "I'm recovering well enough, but I don't think I will be leaving this room anytime soon." He closed his eyes, taking a breath to steady himself. "Still, I don't think I will die."

Shunsui entered after their teacher, looking intently at his friend. "Who said I dragged him? You're in bad shape, Juu, even more than usual." He grinned when the patient frowned. "Maybe we want to give our last respects," he joked.
Juushiro woke slowly and sat up, leaning against the bed to look at the clouds drifting above. He sighed and rubbed at his forehead. His head was pounding. Had he passed out? Should he call for Retsu?
A knock to his door broke through his reverie. "Come in," he called out quietly, leaning against the pillows. When the door opened, he smiled and sat up. "Hello, Yama-jii, you didn't have to come all this way, even if Shunsui insisted."

Shunsui let his teacher lead. It wasn't unusual at all for him to visit when Juushiro was here, and there were times Yamamoto spared the time, too. Tipping his hat to the guards as they passed, , he smiled in what he hoped was a nonchalant grin. There was no reason to alarm anyone .... unless it was true.
When they entered Fourth Division, he let loose a sigh. "Here goes nothing. At least I can be worried without him being suspicious. Do we get Captain Unohana?"

Shunsui nodded curtly. "It will be as you have ordered, Captain Commander."
He turned to his friend, or what was supposed to be his friend. Behind the shadows of his hat, his eyes darkened. I won't forgive you, Sousuke.
He turned to leave, paused, then turned back around. "Juushiro, draw your zanpakuto."
