Oh yeah? That's a relief to hear! I was afraid that I'd be held back because of my right hand. I sort of feel like my art has suffered because of it. After hearing this, I think I might get it turned and give it a try though ^^
Putting my mind to it, I think my best songs are all 12-bar blues songs, or some variation thereof. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, think stuff like Elvis. One of the first songs I wrote, "Fell in Love with a Rock Star", is kind of a chopped-up and rearranged 12-bar blues progression.
I know you mentioned "In the End" by Linkin Park. That's one I want to learn. I think it's in some weird key like Bb minor. Flat keys tend to be harder to play on guitar. I'm guessing there was down-tuning involved when they recorded that one.
In all honesty, my weak point in guitar is my right hand. If you're right-handed, the fingering is done with the left and the strumming with the right. I've put so much effort into getting fingerings right that I just let strumming patterns fall by the wayside. Mostly I just do the basic "down-up" pattern, and that's served me well. So, I'd say that if you want to play the guitar, go for it if you're a righty because your left hand is doing all the work. If you're a lefty, maybe try learning the right-handed method anyway, since your right hand is causing you problems.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

This anime is one of my favorites, it literally made me cry. I could relate to it quite a bit actually. I could really relate to Kaori for more than one reason so this anime holds a special place in my heart :) I used to play the guitar, I actually still have mine!
I hope you enjoy the rest of the anime! Makes me happy that someone is watching it ^^
Oh course ^^ I like hearing about your instruments and experiences. I asked about "best song" because I hear other people talking about it a lot. Things like "Oh Linkin Park's in the end is my best song for sure!" Honestly, I don't have a best song. I wasn't ever spectacular like the others. I was always happiest gently plugging away at the keys to see what sound came out that day. I guess you could say I'm curious to know what it's like to have a best song. I've never been that proud of something I've played to say that you know?
I totally drove my music teacher nuts ^^;; I couldn't play worth crap in class but in conditions were right, and I could really relax and just feel the room around me, it was like someone else was playing. Like invisible strings moving my fingers across the keys. Thanks to my sister being a nosy brat he found out about it at the end of the year before high school. She slightly him a recording of me playing on my grandpa's old piano. I was mad at first. No, not mad I guess but really embarrassed that he called me on summer vacation to talk to me about it.
I'd love to learn the guitar! I'm just worried that now my right hand wouldn't be able to keep up ^^;; do you think it would be difficult for me to learn?
You didn't have me in mind when you posted about instruments, did you? LOL.
I sing and play the guitar. I'm not sure what you mean by "best song", but I play both originals and covers.
Back in grade school, I played the clarinet. I gave it up when I got really sick and missed half a year of school. I've since dabbled in piano, but I lack the coordination. Guitar is really my thing. Sure, I've got a ways to go with it, but at least I can put on a decent performance.
Call it karma. Call it luck. Me, I just don't give a... BOUNCE!

I think it will quickly be one of my favorites too. I wasn't expecting to cry though. It's been a while since somethings got me like that.
