(*giggles*) That's alright. When my mom mentioned that she was from Texas to a group of people on a tour bus in England, they immediately assumed that she lived in the desert and was somehow connected to John Wayne (or something like that). ^_~ Other than that, I don't blame you for thinking that. Our cities are huge mostly because of how spread out they are. Dallas alone is actually two major cities that have built up so much that they run into each other nowadays. When you do manage to escape from the city and avoid the major highways you can find some of the prettiest sites in the state, wildflower season or not.
So that's the climate joke in Michigan, eh? Down where I live, our joke is that our four seasons are Livable, Hot, Hotter, and Hotter-than-Hell. Actually, it varies with the person, but that's the general jist of it. ^_~ I hope the grass comes alive again soon. We would have that right now ourselves if not for all the rain we've been getting lately.
Sounds like a scenic part of Texas. I've always assumed it was either all city or desert; don't travel much out of state (Michigan). It's actually quite sweltering here, contradicting the saying that Michigan has only 2 seasons: Winter and construction. XD I bet wildflowers are pretty, we have dead grass =/ XD
