Well, I'm by no means an expert at animation but here's my two bits.
Patience. Have lots and lots of patience. My roommate can tell you that she's heard me yelling at my computer more than once. If you just stick through it and take multiple breaks during big projects and hard times the end result will surprise you! Also, don't be afraid of funky looking frames. If everything looks perfect your animation will look stiff and fake.
Good luck! I'd love to see anything you animate as well, if you do go to try it out.
I'd like to try my hand at digital animation sometime. I must be crazy because I did traditional animation once in the past and it killed me. Got any tips?

Haha, thanks! I draw every frame in Paint Tool Sai and put it all together in Sony Vegas Pro 8.
