Returning the Favor

CHAPTER 2

Naruto’s stomach grumbled for the fifth time.

Kakashi sighed. “We should stop here for lunch,”

“FINALLY!!!” The hyperactive blond immediately put his hands on his backpacks and pulled out some instant ramen.

“ I’m going to search for some firewood,” Sakura said, walking to the woods.

“You sure you don’t want Sasuke accompanying you?” Kakashi asked.

Sakura stopped. “I’ll be fine on my own,” She said without looking back.

~FIVE MINUTES LATER~

“Oh man,” Naruto rubbed his stomach. “I think I ate too much Ra–”

“AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!”

“Is that–?”

“SAKURA!!!” Naruto and Sasuke said in unison.

2 minutes later, they found Sakura being held by a big guy. The man was covering Sakura’s mouth, so she couldn’t make loud noises.

“MMMMPPH!!!”

“Let her go!” Sasuke said. Hearing that, Sakura blushed a little.

“ Give me all your valuables and the–”

The man never finished his sentence. Kakashi knocked him out before he could do so.

“Ugh!” Sakura fell to the ground, hard.

“S-Sakura-chan? Are you okay?” Naruto asked.

“I’m.... fine...”

‘I’m not FINE, Naruto!!! Why did you guys have to save me all the time?! I could’ve kicked that guy’s butt!!! I DON’T WANT TO BE SAVED!!! I DON’T LIKE BEING RESCUED!!!’

Sakura was angry on the inside. She was actually angry to herself, for letting her got rescued, over, and over again. And yet, she couldn’t return the favor.

‘Maybe someday...’

“Sakura...You should have let someone accompany you...” Kakashi said.

“I...uh...”

“ It’s okay, Sakura-chan. Just don’t make the same mistake again, okay?”

Sakura nodded.

~LATER THAT NIGHT~

“Sakura, are you asleep?”

“N-no...”

“I know you were angry, because we saved you,”

Sakura sat up.

“How did you–?”

“I can tell,” the raven-haired Uchiha said.

“I... was angry. I was angry at myself,”

“Why?”

“Because...” tears started to roll down her face.

“Because, I let my self get rescued over and over again, and I just couldn’t return the favor!”

“I know you will,” the Uchiha said under his breath.

“ Huh?”

“ Never mind. Get some sleep,”

“O-okay...”
