You can appreciate it as it's own thing, start with the original Futari Wa Precure and work your way through the different series, avoid the dubs like the plague.
As a series that tributes/references Sailor Moon, does one have to watch Sailor Moon and other magical girl shows first to appreciate Precure, or is it fine on its own?
