Yeah, I guess so. But it's just really weird to announce a sequel while the game is still being bought regularly and making money. And kind of cruel that they're taking all the (yes, free) content they promised L4D players in the long-term and putting it in a new game.
lol, I think they just saw that they could make more money off of a sequel, since content updates over the inetrnet are usually free. They know the game is good, so fans will probably go out and buy this sequel, therefore filling Valve's wallets a little longer. Unless they make you pay for content upgrades with a credit card over the internet (which not everyone can do), looks like a sequel is the best alternative. A friend of mine always says "Money makes the world go round."
